  1. I might be interested in the dub dub - although am thinking of using the heavier blue and green tubes... I have a small amount of Theraband gold and quite a lot of the blue...also quite a lot 66fit black - all flat bands. The blue (quite light) and 66fit (medium) are goo for 9mm steel, espescially when doubled up. Would be interested to trade..
  2. I think a key decision to make is how you are going to attach your bands to the forks, this will affect your choice. For bands there are many options: flat bands like Theraband (a lot of people use gold as it is the most powerful), traditional square cut elastic and tubes. There are loads of options for configuring your set up: Tapered flat bands are popular - and doubling them up will increase speed. Most configurations will be capable for use in hunting; you need to be hitting at around 200 fps. If it you're using large/ heavy ammunition such as 10mm lead or 12mm steel then your bands will
  3. Nice shooting and using single, square elastic - traditional set up. Interesting! I'll have to look at trying 8 & 10mm hex nuts too....
  4. Impressive shooting if you've only being at it for a month!
  5. Thanks for that...a case of making the best of the situation. Would like to try Porlock Weir if I get the chance...looks like another good venue.
  6. Hi Tim, I was using squid - so it would have been quite a good scent, + I fished close to the bottom. I'd heard that Minehead was good and Porlock too, but we were in a village outside of Bridgewater and there wouldn't have been the time. We also had no internet access - hence not online! But thanks for the offer of the rods! It's a lovely area and I'd love to go back. Technically I found either side of high tide quite do-able with a float, as long as the tide isn't too choppy. It was worth a go - (better than not getting out at all) and has given me a few ideas for other areas. I did repay m
  7. Feedback: The bad new is that I was unable to take my beach fishing gear with me due to lack of space in the car, so opted for light travel rod, Not ideal but I hoped to make the best of it. I had hoped that there would be a place where I could fish from a harbour wall or similar, however as it turned out, the only realistic option was Lilstock. So I had a couple of attempts at fishing from the shore using a float rig...haven't tried this before and I wasn't sure if it would work at all. 1st attempt didn't go well as I tried to fish across the bay on the ebb tide from the far right end of t
  8. "( sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs)".. No problem - good advice is always worth taking on board! If I'm not sure enough about the mark I'll play safe and go to the Anchor.. Thanks Kev
  9. Thanks for the advice - will definitely take that on board! It sounds like fishing hide tide down is the safest option for Lilstock...and probably on a neap.
  10. H Tim, Thanks for that - excellent advice and I will certainly make use of it! Am tempted to the Mrs and kids on the train whilst I go fishing but it probably won't go down well! There are plenty of options from your post and I may give the wall at Minehead a go. If I remember - I'll post an update. Cheers Kev (Kal is my initials)
  11. "MSD is the brand name, got it off evilbay," Thanks for the info...will check them out. Agree 'evilbay'! I've experimented with looped orange dub dub and green theraband....but prefered single tubes in the end. I've not tried the Dankung set up, but am open minded - so will put it on my list of things to try. Update: Have tried green , blue and orange dub dub, Theraband red and green tubes - including looped and tapered set up, My conclusion: Theraband green (single tubes) works the best (for me) for medium sized ammo - such as 1/2 steel...It needs a bit of work to get it to opti
  12. Hi, What is 'MSD green tubing' ? And where did you get it? Am just curious as am experimenting with tubes too...
  13. Hi, Thanks for that and apologies for the typo! Brean Down is further up - am only heading to the area for a couple of days; will be in and around Minehead/ Bridgewater...Im hoping to get a couple of hours fishing in if possible. Looking at the mark though, I can see why its probably a good place.
  14. Hi, I'm going to be staying not far from Bridgewater Bay in Somerset in the next couple of weeks; can anyone recommend a good sea fishing mark? Thanks
  15. I use orange dub dub on my Black Widow, shooting 9mm steel and that's fine. I've also tried red and green Theraband tube, which seems slow. Game Keeper Jihn reviews it here and isn't impressed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwSsVbrqdDI
  16. Ah - OK...was after tube really.. I have some Theraband gold, quite a bit of blue and some black 66fit flat band if anyone is after some..
  17. Is that tube? Does it shoot well? I've tried red and green and found them quite slow; have been using single orange dub dub instead. May be interested in some, am looking for something (single tubes) that will shoot 12mm steel..
  18. I've been experimenting with Theraband red and green tubes - which aren't bad. For some reason they seem to work better OTT. But I've had trouble trying to loop them to create a tapered effect; the latex (whatever the compsition is) seems very slippery and leads to the loops slipping. I've had better success with orage Dub Dub (it has an easy draw and is powerful) - that I've attached to my old Barnett Black Widow. So I'm considering using orange and green Dub Dub in future.
  19. I've had a similar problem with them; without placing an order though.I tried telephoning and emailing to enquire about their band sets but no response. I've given up with them and have assumed that they are no longer trading.
  20. A good point about the height of the forks resulting in the need for the wrist brace. I've a small range of sling-shots (one by Hunter catapults, one self made natural fork, the BW and one being custom built). Fortunately I've managed to avoid hitting my hand!
  21. I'm currently re-visitng using one at the moment. I don't like the band-set and pouch that they come with, better suited to lead than steel. Am trying different tubes - Theraband red and green...I may modify the forks to facilitate looping the tubes on; it's possible to create a tapered effect like that and increase the power. I'm only looking to shoot at 200 - 250 fps (good enough for targets and small game) so am not too worried about the extra speed and power associated with flat bands. It's early days though.
  22. Another problem with irregular shooting can stem from the attachment of the pouch...as I found out. The pouch needs to be attached with care, making sure the elastic pulls evenly, and that it opens properly once the draw is released. I'm finding Jack Koehler's book good regarding problems with accuracy. Someone posted (in the forum) that is available online to download for free..
  23. Well there you go - no need to buy it! A good book though.
