Ian ‘t it the maddest thing ever? Where are John, George, Harold, Brian, Philip, Ian,Charles and on and on and on. I am fed up of all the latest politicians and news readers etc. etc who are completely taking over. Khan, Singn, Patel, Rishi, and on and on and on. Ah. Fck it. This place has gone crazy. Jok.
  5. 70 on March 3rd. Had some cabins for the family up in Ashbourne. What a weekend we had. Wifey just booked a nice little holiday end of April on Cape Verdi. She’s just done a deal with the bosses for 2 day week for the next 2 years in an administration capacity. All in all happy days. When you’ve run the race it’s time to give up. Jok.
  6. Well you guys. I am going for something slightly different. Venison Rhulad. I have been having lamb on a regular basis which we both enjoy immensely so decided, today, as it happens to have a go. I’m thinking, mushroom, onion, garlic, coriander, tomato purée and the obvious salt and black pepper. I have the pastry ready so looking to roll and seal. Our local butcher bastes his in an amazing mix which I’ll have a go at. I’m guessing this needs a while in the fridge prior to cooking so will have a go. QUESTION. Would it be advisable to pre cook the venison mince? My later pics will undoubtably t

I mentioned a couple of weeks back about a farmer being shot, dead, whilst calving one of his cows. This has just been reported on the national press. Jok

  13. Yes that snowy was certainly a character. I had one good run in with him when he kept a pub. The pub in question is The Fosters Yard but seeing as how they don’t serve proper beer w don’t go in. The Bull is the place to be. Still many a deal to be done. I have heard, however, that the Swan in Atherstone is worth a visit. Jok.
  14. Yes it does . At the moment I haven’t heard of much trouble but I’ll be in the Bull, Polesworth at the weekend where I’m sure to get the gos. Jok.

  18. Blooming eck Wolfie. The boats , at least on the canals over here, come in multiples of 10 otherwise they could not be navigated through our canal system. There are no Mississippi’s over here. Don’t know about the likes of the Thames where I imagine there are some big fellas. Jok.
  19. The lovely one was out for dinner so once again alone in the kitchen with contents of fridge. Well. I surpassed myself. Started with one chicken breast thinly sliced, some Brussels sprouts thinly sliced, some mushrooms again thinly sliced, cooked in a little olive oil with salt and pepper, finished with two beaten eggs, with cream and hey ho, 20 minutes an absolutely cracking omelette. I’ll be doing that again for sure. By the way, the lads down the pub very much enjoyed my venison faggots. Jok.
  20. Good morning. If I was you I would contact Ian and Wendy Openshaw , Openshaw gundogs, who have of the best reps in the country with there Rytex line. They breed, train and as knowledgeable as you can get. ( Coventry area). Jok.

It has made me think. Some years ago we were lamping on the side of the M1 (I have mentioned this before on here). It was a pishing night and my turn to be on the rifle. The track ran alongside the motorway, Juntion 24, and I spotted my fox. Well, to be honest the weather did not help but I called to my two companions that I would not take the shot as was unclear about the target. Turns out it was a vagrant, lucky guy I reckon. Thing is, mistakes, I suppose can happen. However, if you are trusted with a FAC you cannot and must not take a shot that you are not 100% on. Jok.

Well. To be honest we are a close community. There isn’t much that goes on that doesn’t get talked about. The one one thing that we all agree on is the colour of the eyes preshot. The other is that the person who pulled the trigger knew exactly what he/she was doing. They did not want to be caught. At this time I don’t know if an arrest has been made but by gum I hope it has. The fact that a calibre has been mentioned must have some relevance. Jok

I am hearing about a shooting close to my home. This may have been last Wednesday. A local farmer shot dead by ‘a poacher’ through the heart. It is believed shot by a 308 round. The guy was, apparently calving one of his cows which was mistaken for a fox. Jok.
