  1. I will, but I won't be able to compare it to anything else because this will be the first bit of NV kit that I have ever owned.
  2. They seem to be on back-order at the moment, It's getting towards 3 weeks ago since I ordered mine and still no sign of it. Clive also doesn't seem to be able to tell me when it's likely to arrive. EDIT: Then 30 mins after posting this I get notification that it's shipped. Appy dayz
  3. The strange thing is that the the chap that does the home visits is a really decent fella and no problem at all, it seems that once the application gets to the back office it all goes pear shaped.
  4. Simps I can tell you from personal experience that Gloucestershire are a total nightmare when it come to firearms licensing. My last fac application took 12 months to process (this was in 2007) I had applied for 22cf for foxes, 22 rim + mod and air rifle for vermin and a high capacity shotgun. After 12 months of nothing but bullshit from them my ticket eventually arrived with the air rifle only. I rang them and had a full on barny with the guy in the office (he's a civvy), he eventually conceded the shotgun and the rimfire + mod but refused the 22cf stating "There are no foxes on that land
  5. I have a shopping list prepared and like you I want to be there when the doors open, its bound to be busier tomorrow, but thanks for the info.
  6. Good man, better than wasting it on loose women, beer and curry.
  7. Another question for anyone that might know, can you purchase guns at the show and walk out with them or do they take orders and ship them to you and are you likely to get a "Show Only" deal on kit?
  8. I wish they did the sporter as a lefty, its a lovely looking gun. Is it the rifle or the carbine? Scrub that, the clue is in the KS
  9. Anyone back from the show? Was it worth the 20 quid? Used to go to the bike show at the NEC religiously, but the price kept going up and the quality of the show kept going down, ended up like a massive jumble sale.
  10. I'm going either tomorrow or Saturday. I'm heading out with an empty boot and a full wallet, hopefully it'll be the other way round on the way home.
  11. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking other peoples kit, I'm sure the rapid is a very capable tool. But I'd bought it on a whim because my shooting buddy was using an air gun to good effect so I thought I'd give it a go. But ultimately it didn't stack up against my rim fire. Is there any way to disable auto correct on here?
  12. That S410 looks like a really nice piece of kit and they do a lefty version as well. The thing that attracted me most to the HW100 (apart from the fact that I'm a fan of German engineering) was the simplicity of the magazine, my only previous experience with air rifles was a brief encounter with a rapid 7 which I thought was a bit of a faff to load. I only used it a couple of times before moving it on. I was initially looking at a huntsman regal, but reading through a couple of threads on here put me off it a bit.
  13. Try looking around SW1A, a few have been spotted around there.
  14. Its going to be an HW100 has to be a "T" variant because I'm a lefty, haven't decided on standard or carbine yet. I did have a couple of scopes kicking around here somewhere, but I haven't seen them for some time, so will probably treat myself to a new one. No idea what and am open to suggestions, likewise pellets. I'm starting from scratch kit wise, so all and any views and advice are more than welcome.
  15. I'll be shooting rats, rabbits, squirrels and maybe the odd pidgy, usual stuff really, I think I'm leaning more towards the 177 but for no particular reason. I nip along to the gun show this weekend and see if someone will let me have a play. I think there is at least one range fairly close by, which could be another option, I'll what happens over the weekend first. Thanks all.
  16. Thanks for the replies guys, I should have guessed that it wasn't going to be clear cut. I was hoping for a rule of thumb kind of thing but it looks like its a more of a personal preference thing. The problem for me is that I have no experience of my own to fall back on before I lay out the cash.
  17. Ok thanks, so there is no rule of thumb to work to. If anyone could offer a little insight into the advantages or disadvantages of either I would appreciate it, otherwise it becomes a bit of an expensive coin toss.
  18. Hi everyone, New member and first post. I'm looking at getting a new rifle primarily for vermin control. Whilst I'm not new to vermin control, or shooting generally, I have very little experience with air rifles. So the question is a simple one, 177 or 22? Thanks.
