The whole point that you cannot grasp is that a pack structure avoids conflict. It isn't always the best fighter that is dominant. It is for want of a better description - persona or attitude. Some of our most able street dogs were second fiddle to spaniels at home. My own working GSD who would take on any crowd no matter how many or how violent would submit to our old terrier bitch. She was a quarter his size. When I took on a younger, bigger, stronger GSD he would allow the youngster to roll him over in a play fight then when he'd had enough, one low growl told the youngster playtime was o

How do you think I funded the move to France? The mole trapping is just a cover ?
-
I'm not as green as to believe anything that you say. So now we have a dog that was claimed to have a police pedigree, but perhaps not, and a wealth of experience morphed from passing dogs. ? I think we have the general picture.
-
Yes, exactly. The ginger cnut was only interested in making money out of it. There are already £millions being made by companies running drugs awareness and rehabilitation programs that do absolutely nothing at all. The situation is a complete farce and I used to stay well clear of it. Anything I found that was obviously personal useage went down a grate or got ground into the pavement and nothing said. No names, no pack drill.

I think the problem came when Branson tried to get his sticky fingers into it. He wanted a legalised licensed product that would apprently solve the drugs problem. The issue was that to produce safe and licensed products would make them far more expensive than the current supply. So, the rich could safely smoke their legal stuff while everybody else was buying from the black market. That would create a legal minefield for law enforcement and not solve any problems. It stalled any progress of legalising it.

You said; "Still, had a German Shepherd bred off police dogs...." and now you don't know where it came from ? All the rest is supposition and naivity. You really have no idea if you can base your experience on dogs on having owned three in fifty years.

Its to take their minds off having no oil or gas or markets for their diesel cars ?

You brought up the story of having a dog from the police, not me. Now you are saying you are not sure. They didn't breed or buy pups in those days, preferring to buy adolescent dogs so that you could see what you had. It was only latterly due to a shortage of decent dogs did smaller forces consider breeding programs. From what you are saying it wouldn't have made the grade anyway. I haven't seen any akitas used for general purpose security work so there is no comparison. With the shortage of GSD's and Mallies you would have thought that if akitas were suitable they would have been used.

South Yorkhire Police did not breed their own dogs until around 2009 so there were no police breeders in Hatfield. We bought dogs from dealers nationwide and some came from the public as donations. There were some private breeders who sold some of their dogs to the police, prisons and armed services, but they were not police dog breeders as you stated. And the police only take the best, rejecting the rest. The example of my customer's akitas is to counter your generalisation that any akita would beat any GSD in a straight fight. There are cowards in any breed or species and examples

Strange thing to say given that I worked in the department for over 9 years, worked two GSD's, viewed, assessed and trained many others, won trophies and had a 100% record on donated dogs recruited making it into service. Plus over 150 arrests made with dog including numerous bites. And also trained three border collies and GSD to be good beating and walking up dogs that were used on shoots in south and north Yorkshire along with a spaniel that was chronically gun shy and crippled when I got her. And your experience is?

Thing is how much is set up? There is a long history of manipulation in wildlife photography.

Anyone who has a GSD bred from police dogs has basically got a reject. The number of dogs bred by police forces that make it to selection for an intitial course is just over 10%. The rest are sold off. The biggest reason for failure is lack of courage. Since 9/11 the demand for security dogs has dramatically increased leading to in some cases a reduction in quality. Anything rejected cannot be used as a good example of the breed. Regards akitas; a customer has 6 pure bred akitas. They are all as soft as a brush. There is an old saying that when it comes to courage "It isn't the size

Read the full thread. Farage is saying that if not stopped these acts will escalate to terrorism.

The Stop Oil protestor in the VW factory showroom didn't mind being taken to hospital in an oil burning ambulace. Hypocrites the lot of em!
-
They are cowards in that they only pick soft targets that are easy to damage and run from. I can't see the people doing this having the guts to plant bombs or harm people.

I don't watch the program these days but have fond memories of Kate Humbles great tits and who can forget Mikela Strachans beaver close-ups? ?
-
Thanks. From memory I think we identified the one we found as a short toed tree creeper.
-
While we were waiting for our meal to come outside a restaurant there were two doing exactly that. They would creep up the trunk then sort of loop down, around the trunk and creep up a different path of the same trunk or a neighbouring one. Nuthatches on our trees and bird table are up and down and usually upside down all over the place.

When your gudgeon weigh more than your barbel then you really have roached for the sky. ?

Strange Thing you see whilst out in the countryside
Nicepix replied to paulus's topic in General Talk
Our shoot bordered a country park. All three farmers we rented off put in for the Stewardship scheme to get grants. That meant the land had to be surveyed. The people who came to do the surveys had also done one at the country park. After they had completed it they showed my friend, who ran the shoot, the results. They also told him that the shoot was light years ahead of the country park as regards species and habitat. The difference in their opinion came down to pest control. The country park didn't do any. -
Ah well. Happy dace ?

I thought that Ken's Deputy was Keith, or was it Kermit? ?
-
I'm worried about Wilf for many, many reasons ? Regards Ken's Deputy; he mentioned before his sabatical that a woman had entered his life. That was several days ago so she has had plenty of time to change his habits.
-
They probably do. But when watching tree creepers they seem to always go up then fly down and start again somewhere else.

I can't be certain but I thought the comizo barbel was in the rivers that border Portugal? Don't know if they are in the Ebro. There is an Ebro barbel very much like our barbel. The notice board said they grew to 1.5kg, but I hooked two twice that weight. All barbel will take lures. Many French pecheurs fish shads in fast water for barbel and historically several barbel over the then 16lb record were taken out of season by salmon anglers fishing Devon minnows. On the Wye and Severn.
