No, sorry. I lived in and near Leeds for two short spells when I was young, but don't really know the city and haven't heard of that company.

My first fly rod was made from a Hardy Jet blank. I think that fibreglass fly rods had a smoother action than some of my later carbon rods and were better suited to nymph fishing. It is the same with Avon type rods. For me carbon is too unforgiving and I prefer cane or glass rods for species like barbel and chub. Also for mullet too.

Or an owner who doesn't know any better.

Who remembers the 70’s? Jump suits, hot pants, flares and double denim everywhere. The launch of the Austin Allegro and a hit parade full of oddities including Jasper Carrott’s Funky Moped and Magic Roundabout plus Billy Connolly’s D.I.V.O.R.C.E amongst the surprising hits. We had the long dead still on the Trail of the Lonesome Pine whilst in Alnwick, Northumberland another Hardy, the tackle manufacturers, were playing catch-up in belatedly manufacturing fibre glass rods. Across the North Sea ABBA while were meeting their Waterloo whilst the other Swedish super group ABU introduced their sh

Firstly an unlocked safe is as secure as a biscuit barrel. Typical Daily Mail who have to insert "Pit bull" in front of every terrier story and "Poweful" in front of every air rifle and motorbike story. Secondly, all government offices are secure to a lesser or grester degree even if only by a mortice lock. And finally, Russia has been bombing the schit out of Ukraine citizens for weeks in spite of it being illegal to target civilians. Ukraine strike a minor military target and Russia use this to stop shipments they never wanted to allow in the first place. Move on folks. Nothing to see h

The thing that singles people like greb and Max out from the rest is that they both attack the other party with insults when they cannot defeat their argument. Their perceived online status is more important to them than the facts. I agree that Max suffered abuse beyond what is acceptable. However, this is being used to disguise how that situation arose. The abuse wasn't one-way traffic and he has said some pretty horrible things about people on here more than once. He feels able to goad others, but cannot take it himself. Yesterday someone doubted the validity of something I posted. I

To quote Ritson; greb only stumbles across the truth by accident. He is a classic troll, twisting things and making people out to be idiots when they expose his hypocrisy and contradictory posts. And anyone who thinks that Max has never instigated anything hasn't been paying attention. A lot of forums are declining. They reached their peaks several years ago. I'm not saying that THL is one of them, but most are failing due to Walts taking over. When fishing forums started they were brilliant places to learn from knowledgable and experienced folk. In later years instant experts quoting st

Not quite true. Dennis Higgs had a lion aand a scrap yard, but the lion was never used to guard it. His office had two GSDs on chains running off long lines either side of the drive. I had to go there to serve a summons on him. I had a dog either side that got closer and closer as we got to the middle of the path. At one point I could feel their breath on my neck. The lion was kept in a secure shed on a trailer down the yard. When we were kids he used to take it to fairs and charge threepence to go into the trailer and view it.

No. Deffo true. He once got left behind after a band competition in Blackpool. He got off the coach for a pee and they drove off. I had to call at his house around 2am and tell his wife he had been misplaced, but a traffic car was on route to recover him from Hartshead Moor.

Jok. There was an old community bobby who covered the village Brassed Off was filmed in. He was in the police band and used to lock himself in the office of the police house and practice his triple tonguing for hours.

This one gets to me every time. The funeral lament of a once great industry from the film Brassed Off

What better way to welcome little wife home but a good old Ruby Murray? Just waiting for the beer wallah.

Thanks macken, but I'll pass on that.

When I go fishing on the boat at a place on the Vienne there is no access to the far bank for miles, but there are a couple of places where I can disembark and empty the bilges so to speak. Its a bu99er having to get the rods in, the anchors up, motor across the river, chuck a land anchor onto some rocks and scramble ashore when the big hand is approaching the 3 minute warning time being up. The place is full of coypu droppings so I'm not spoiling anything.

Then he discovered there was no glass?

Bain of my life Jukel. Since having bowel surgery about three years ago I've gone from a constipated three times a week man to a three minute warning man. I pick my fishing spots accordingly, but when out all day on mole-patrol I sometimes have to use public conveniances and some of them are unfit for purpose. The worst are those holes in the ground that you have to squat over. Most look like the previous users were American WW2 bomb aimers. And the ones with pedestals never have seats. I think we should start a Good Bogs Guide to name and shame those who do not keep their schithouses in order

I would think that the period when these things were at their peak would have been mid 70's onwards, immediately after the legislation and declining year on year dependent on life expectancy. There will still be people keeping them off ticket like banned dog breeds, and some of those cats could easily be turned out if circumstances dictated. I wouldn't go as far as taking precautions against an attack, but I'd never say they don't or can't exist in small numbers.

To my knowledge only in the Anston area which would have been around 2001-3. I wouldn't have been aware of any made outside my district or even when not on duty so not wery helpful I'm afraid.

Interesting. I skipped a bit, but overall well balanced. I have no experience of these creatures, but on the shoot I was part of we had a deer farm. Every year at rutting time we would see wild stags around the pens. Obviously drawn by the scent of receptive females. If I were trying to capture big cat evidence I would look around any sanctuaries that held females during their breeding periods. Concentrare everything on that instead of chasing sightings that may or may not be significant. Just my two penneth.

Not if it is answering points raised by the other party. If you don't quote then you have to repeat what they've said so that anyone else dropping in can see the relevancy. Otherwise the thread and debates become fragmented. Quoting links the new comments to what they are concerned with. It also has prevents the other poster from sunsequently editing text. You can easily find the definition of trolling online. It fits greb to a T. If you think that an animal is going to pre plan an attack on a public highway with obvious traffic interferance then run off because of said traffic, then

Agreed. Looking in a jewellers shop window is not a good sign.

Yes, I do quote and answer. That is what a forum is about; discussion. Some people don't like it when I highlight their hypocrisy or question their opinions. For example you have stated that the leopard v cyclist was an attack. How do you know that without having knowledge of whether the animal actually had a view of its intended victim through the bushes? It isn't that cut and dried and a video is only a two dimensional image. But greb doesn't ask those sort of relevant questions. He just undermines people from a self imposed position of superiority. When he contradicts himself he doesn

I wonder if any of these amateur genetisists actually know what they are doing. Its not like mixing paint. Unless you have studied the blood lines and the dogs themselves of all the family members you could easily be tranferring the worst traits of each breed and missing the traits you are looking for. Some of these 1/4 pit bull, 2/3 greyhound and a dash of beddie x whippet to make the best lamping dog comments are hillarious. Why not add a bit of rabbit or owl? They can see well in the dark.

From a forum owner's point of view Max and greb are gold dust. They create controversy thst leads to more posts aka clicks that leads to a greater advertising revenue. From a forum members point of view having rissholes like Max and greb means that a lot of decent folk stop making posts because of the trolls. Some stop reading threads altogether as seen in Jok's comments about membership and viewing figures. A lot of people with valuable experience have left this site because of the jealous richardheads with have done nothing with their lives posting insults at them, along with the
