There was a guy livebaiting for pike yesterday dressed in trainers, jogging bottoms and a fleece jacket just like you see the lazy binners in Aldi who are too idle to iron anything. Marked him down as a casual, not a proper angler. Didn't even have a Korum or Drennan rod. Probably a pikie piking.

When I say camo' is ideal for country sports I wouldn't suggest that you wear it while riding to hounds. It might become fashionable in time, but not just yet.

I wear camo' trousers when mole trapping. Nothing to do with hiding from the moles, more to do with muck not showing up as much on my trousers. And as has been said; camo' stuff is often cheap and durable. The miltary smocks are ideal for country sports having good strong zips, loads of pockets and rip proof material.

I think that they were more obvious in the 80's because there were a higher number of recent releases over a short space of time around the date of the legislation. Latterly any escapees or releases would be much lower and more random.

If you mean me, then I have always believed that there is a high likihood of some animals still being released by off ticket owners who's circumstances have changed and can no longer cope. Some of the witnesses are too credible to dismiss and if happens with other licenced species.

But how do you rationalise the small breeding populations if any exist? It is unlikely that any cubs would encounter animals from different parents given the tiny numbers. My view is that if there are any, they would have been released by an off ticket owner who could no longer keep it and could not lawfully re-home it.

In my previous life I had to go to police and community meetings. It was always the same, five or six old blokes leaning forward on their walking sticks and complaining about dog schit. The electoral ward was 2,500 yet only the same five or six turned up month after month and there were more voters didn't vote than voted for the incumbent councillor. The system is broke.

My neighbour had them coming into his garden pond in the middle of Shafton. The only reason he knew was that I heard one and looked out of our window. Full moon like now are the times they fed at night.

Herons feed at night especially on full, bright moons. As they live communually a decoy heron is more likely to attract any passing herons to a good fishing spot. Netting over the pond would be the best solution.

That would show you up as being a casual. You have to choose the correct uniform for the weaponry you are using and dress appropriately. If you don't take it seriously you might hurt their feelings.

It made me laugh when you see that their toy guns are marked "Special Forces". Mick used to browse these and the Survival forums. He was obsesed with them. Walt's World he called them. There was one post asking for recommended places to wild camp in the Peak District. He stipulated that it must have 3G.

They get anal about having the right uniform too. A mate used to browse an air rifle forum where they had a section and were often talking about having worked on contracts in sandy places ?
