oh perfect that's similar to what I had in mind, thanks for your reply Moorman! Just a few questions if you don't mind... Is the far left a double door system? and is there any separation between the enclosed 'shed' section and the open 'bar' section? What roofing material you have used? also do you mind if I ask what size each section is?

Hi Guys, I've been away a while as I've been very busy with work, moving etc but my interest in falconry has continued to grow and I've now reached a stage where I feel I have enough time to have a bird and do it justice! I've been reading and researching for over 5 years now (I've been through nearly every post on this forum as well as read all the usual recommended books) and I know this is something I want to do and so next season I will start. I have decided on a FHH, as I think they are fantastic, versatile birds but also my father used to fly a Harris so is on hand to assist,

okay thanks, we should be under 60 yards with any luck! Can we start this again, are you saying under 60 yards for everything, as you have already suggested you have foxes 10 yards away!? If that is the case there is absolutely no need for a centrefire of any description. As regards a .223 or 22-250 or whatever anyone else has suggested, think carefully with half an eye to your suggestion of Roe in the future, unless its Scotland no .22CF is Deer legal for Roe! Hi guys, Im about to apply for my FAC and have been looking at my options and thought I'd just ask around here as I usually get great feedback and answers from this forum. My main quarry would be rabbits and foxes, although the possibility of roe deer has been mentioned but I dont want to base my first rifle on this as its just talk at the moment where as I have a couple of rabbit permissions already which have all said they would like me to do foxes too! My thinking was a .223 or .22- not sure which!? LR? RF? hornet? The permissions I have are not going to require 3-500 yard s

To be honest I'm similar to Rez, not sure which way to go and all the politicians all seem to have their own agendas for why they want to leave or stay- Don't really trust any of them anymore! It seems difficult to find decent non-bias information about what is genuinely best for our country and our future! Personally I travel a lot so I do like the ease of movement, but then again I've been to Norway a number of times, they aren't in the EU and its just as easy to go there as it is to go any other country within the EU! and speaking of Norway they seem to be doing pretty well not in t

yes thats true, well they arent that small, sorry maybe that gave the wrong mental image, I just mean not the very open areas I've flown the peregrine in! but thanks, appreciate the advice, I always like to hear and to take other peoples views and opinions on board

haha I can imagine! Im hoping to get my first bird in the next couple of years (situation allowing) and am gearing towards a harris I think, I've got a fella who's taken me out with a peregrine a few times and said he can guide me through it and there wouldn't be an issue with it being my first bird but I'm unsure! not sure my nerves would hold out flying it free to start with (I imagine anything is terrifying let alone the distances his goes away only to return) and I think in terms of land availability I have will gear itself more towards a Harris or Gos, would love to have a sparrowhawk but

I haven't managed to find anyone to get out with with a Harris or a gos yet either so hopefully I can do that next season and it might help me make my decision!

ah right gotcha! I suppose if they are quite hard to come by and you had the chance why not! I only asked because I've seen some people talk about benefits of them but others who are against it and dont see the point, personal preference I guess! Will be nice to see how it comes along anyway good luck and enjoy the wait

great to see you taking to it and also have a level head about shooting live quarry and putting them ahead of just 'having a pop' and causing injuries. All the best with your shooting and good luck if you decide to carry on going after the rabbits and rats! I'm sure you will get the bug and soon will expand your quarry list!
