What Do Your Clubs Do
Johnlurcher replied to Johnlurcher's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Yes I do ? -
We have started a new club in our area because the old club was full of people who didn't want to spend money or put in any work! So we have started a fresh new start, our area has a range of different land, mainly rough grass land and wood areas, so how do your clubs make sure that there is a good number of birds released, do you rear from a day old, buy poults or adult birds? And releasing them! What's the best time and any info on how you do it and what works for ye? Please

Thanks guys! Do any of you think you'd shoot more over either? ?

The age old question of do you shoot more over a pointing dog or a flushing dog? Do pointing dogs pass birds in heavy cover and do springers sometimes flush 2 far away in heavy cover!? The ground I hunt is mixed so I could do with both but what are your taughts??

Our gun club had over 300 magpies and 450 grey crows this year and there give out that it's costs alot to keep a freezer goin all year around, so how do you keep them from wrotting, I was thinking if you put them in the vacuum bags that they would be fine!? What you think?

Deerhound x Greyhound second cross, wouldn't run any only deer! Nothing, you needed no lead even one night I said I'd just bring him at foxes his 3 now so surely, while the other dog was doing the job on the fox he was lying down, 20min later I look around and he was gone, heard all this noise and clicked on the lamp to see 10 or so deer run straight at me, to say the least he did a good job on them, sold him that night to a lad, it suited hin to the ground and believe this he never did anything only deer! he bred him to a Greyhound bitch kept 2 pups and one of them would only do hares and d

Trying For Hunting Ban In Ireland
Johnlurcher replied to Irishhunter14's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I'll go on hungry strike if they try it in Ireland! But should we irish make a letter and send a copy of it to all our local polities one letter but just change the name at the start and the end! And tell how it keeps young ppl out of trouble, creates jobs, samples healthy lifestyle, look at all the products sold and the vat paid on them! We are a big hunting nation and should have no bother keeping a ban off our shores! Either that or we skin anti alive so the rest f**k off! I'd do 10 years to save the sport I love! -

You don't buy a whippet for foxes or you don't buy a bull x just for rabbits but that's don't mean that a whippet won't take a fox or a bull x won't catch a rabbit but it's horses for courses!

Lovely looking animal, great condtion ,stronger head than a lot of 1/2Xs ive seen......only problem ive found with 3/4 breds is they lack wind and are bit reckless (100 mph) which often means a shorter life span I'll agree with the 100 mph but they put game to bed and yes wind can be poor but a fit good should recover fast, any other x would have more wind but some lack the same drive and heart and heart is what I want in a dog!

The 3/4 Greyhound 1/4 bull is the bull lurcher that most appeals to me for all round work. Cracking looking dog Jonhlurcher cheers mate! His a good allrounder but wouldn't say he caught many hares in the day! As for the bigger game his spot on!best dog I've owned, I was a deerhound man but once you go bull you'll never go back!
