    Well Goat, that has put a dampner on this thread, care to tell us what the black mark on terrier work was and why be careful around him with terriers, curiosity is getting the better of me.

    Right Lee, get him booked in to the vets, get him castrated because you have ruined that pup, he'll never work now. and at 10mths he's just the right age to settle in to that pet home.

    i suppose it depends on yourself. Some people are happy to wait till a dog is 2 and a half to see if it will go.and if it doesn't goo after been shown a few times it's diffently a cull.ud expect this question from a young lad not a middle age manwell the thing with the question is I don't get the work or die mentality I personally could not pts a healthy dog as I'm a soft c**t I suppose but it seems if you want to work terriers you have to be emotionally detached from your dog'swell if the dog doesnt work your stuck with a dog that cant do its job...nuts off find a pet home for a well balanced

    I can state that Merle was never a fox dog as I know he was supplied with well over 50 foxes live and that dog never killed a one, but I had a lot of collie crosses bred down off him that would face anything so it shows you how fickle breeding can be,WM snap,i had a bitch by him that was an excellent foxing bitch,worked with the terriers and would hunt up and run them in, also would cold mark them,she would also take them on the lamp.its a lot to do with the opportunities you give them and entering them in general.

    I assume the pup/dog was given to you? if so what conditions if any were laid down concerning future breeding?if you agreed to the breeder having total control over that when the terrier was handed over then you should adhere to his wishes.Then again if he is not that close to you as a friend you can carry on regardless,your consience.

    What about the mother of jp's angel? I have never read the bible and can assure you i don't believe every thing i read or am told. by the way i agree with 99.9% of what you say and your knowledge of these particular terriers is second to none.

    I did'nt mean to upset anyone with my post but foxdropper asked which dog which is why i mentioned gin. as for gin blood being second rate i personally would'nt agree. and i can't think of a stud dog that he went out to that he used more than once.

    pretty sure gin had bad eyes, not sure if it was an inherited fault or something physical happened to cause it,or i could be totally wrong,but i'm sure someone will put me right.

    Will read the bible again as missed that first time flicking through the pictures lol.The stock i got hold of was what Stevens left behind at the Beaufort when he moved to the Portman .It was entrusted to a lad that was a bit free with matings it transpired .I blagged 3 bitches in lew of 3 back which hes yet to take .This would of been 15-16 years back .Im 4 gens using one of mine over broken coated black bitches .What one or 2 do have is reverse sneezing which means whenever they get excited ,they sneeze back the wrong way .Sounds like they been smoking 30 a day .Fitness seems to calm it but

    I think DH's dog was Jack, who was by smithy and was bought off Gould, did'nt think he ever had Smithy but could be wrong.
