  1. He did indeed. No complaints there. We were the only Premier League club to end the 2018/19 season in the black according to some reports. His business savvy cannot be questioned. But in regard to improving the club where it matters to the supporters, the football being played, can you honestly say that we should be happy? Asking for your honest opinion from a self entitled wanker.
  2. My point was, using your car analogy, is that Maserati's don't come cheap and do not always appreciate in value. Skoda's on the other hand are relatively cheap (actually decent cars these days and not that cheap but I digress), and it is easier to buy a Skoda and work hard with the ambition of trading up and in the future ending up with a Maserati. I'm not sure that seriously wealthy businesses or individuals buy big football clubs these days in the expectation of it staying in the black. The benefits of owning a high profile football club these days is maybe more complicated than that.
  3. The self entitled wankers that you refer to? That would be me Max. But this self entitled thing is an invention of the media not a true representation of the expectations of Newcastle supporters. When relegated most lads I know feared and expected the worst, in that we would plummet down the leagues and end up mid table 3rd Division with no prospect of getting out of the mire. How embarrassing would that be? We count our blessings to still be in the Premier League and hope to find an owner that will allow us to compete on an even keel with the clubs in England and in Europe, that we once did.
  4. I think on some levels SAFC are a better long term investment prospect than a Premier League club. They already have the stadium and fan base. If you could get it for next to nowt it could pay off ...eventually.
  5. Chopra? I think he scored more goals for Sunderland than he did for Newcastle.
  6. I've just read that a Singapore based consortium have now tabled a bid and if successful they want to appoint Alan Shearer as manager. I've been furloughed for quite some time now and started loosing touch with reality a bit so had to check what today's date is but did not think that I could be that out of touch. I'm not , and the date is not April the 1st.
  7. A nice read but smacks of a showman justifying a breed standard. His points make sense but are relating to show points? The original work of the Stafford has long since been illegal of course so function over form has no relevance now regarding breeding but the physical faults listed by Mr. Philips would not necessarily prevent a dog from being a winner, outside of the show ring? The Fox Terrier has a head like an anteater due to the distance from occiput to stop needing to be less than the distance between stop and nose in order to protect the eyes when facing a fox. It probably made sense wh
  8. ... be careful how you treat people on the way up as you may meet them on the way down ...
  9. One from around that time. An amateur sketch and anatomically appallingly naively drawn but more or less what he looked like. A stamp of terrier that got replaced by prettier types.
  10. If it was going back to a point in time from the present, after placing a few bets in more recent times it would have to be the middle east when Jesus of Nazareth was around and find out what the craic was with all that. Seeing the building of the pyramids and Stonehenge would be interesting. I imagine some things would not have changed, slaves "job's a joke, we'll never get finished on time!", high priests " howay, come on!".
  11. Not that long ago but I'd loved to have been around during the "golden age" of terrier work.
  12. Lab x Standard Poodle bred things are a problem. Stafford types are popular and rarely kick off but still prefer the 1st meeting between my dogs and theirs to be on a lead. Mine always are in those places.
  13. What is happening in these parks? Genuine question. Is where I live not quite as bad as I thought? Idiots with dogs that they cannot control is my only problem in the parks.
  14. Fair play to you WHWT. You obviously have a love of terriers and working them. The pleasure of just owning them and hunting with them has been lost on people i think sometimes. Looking forward to seeing pics of a Dandie being a terrier.
  15. I don't really have a problem with Mike Ashley. He is a very clever man but made a mistake buying NUFC. I honestly believe that he bought the club with good intention of taking it back to the "glory days" of the Kegan era. But his plan never quite worked. He's still here though. Shit ?
  16. This bollocks will change things. A precedence will be set. The anonymous will no longer be untouchable. Heads will roll and people will be sacked. Will be too late for NUFC, probably ....
  17. Back to football, whatever the eventual outcome of this will be too late to effect recruitment. I just hope that Ashley does not cash in on Dubravka and Saint - Maximin, our price assets. Even though it was Dubravka and Andy Carroll who saved games and prevented relegation this season.
  18. What ever happened to the High Level bridge? Closed for repairs but when re-opened deemed unsound for road traffic other than buses ?
  19. The terrier on the right has a real old fashioned look to it. Both nice though.
  20. Reading through the last few pages and the "fear" that a Saudi funded takeover of NUFC will result in them building mosques in the area? They've missed the boat on that one as we've had them for years. There is one within walking distance of St. James'. Are there any urban areas of England mosque free? They have not had any effect on me personally, detrimental or otherwise. It's the greens and "liberals" who seem to want to fix things that aren't broken due to their own beliefs rather than what the people actually want or need. A congestion charge for Newcastle seems inevitable at some point.
  21. It's not all sweet out of pro football though is it chartpolski? I know nothing of the club you mention but a family member of mine has been involved with a boys club for quite some time. Initially because the coach of his lads under 8 team quit and he stepped in to keep the season going. He ended up getting his badges and carried on next season. Long story short he more or less took control and dragged the club up by its ears to where they needed to be in order to survive. He is successful in business and got the necessary sponsorship to improve the basics but also used his gift of patter/bul
  22. I wont pretend to be an expert on world politics and would soon get found out if tried but obviously the Saudis have "room for improvement". But will excluding them from the party help to bring them into the 21st century? It certainly wont make them any worse and they are allegedly trying to develop. From a selfish point of view what good could the takeover do for the north east of England? It may be PR bullshit but apparently Amanda Staveley is looking at the deal from a philanthropist as well as purely business perspective. She not only wants to develop Newcastle United the football club but
  23. Hawks and doves ? The potential buyers took the opportunity to get their "non-refundable" deposit back due to the incompetence and cowardice of those opposing the takeover not making a decision ... possibly? Hawks usually win.
