  1. Remember Tiff Needell, or Tiffany Dell as Jeremy Clarkson used to pronounce it? Drove a NUFC touring car or such like when Sir John Hall was going for the global brand sort of thing. His also said we would field 11 Geordie players in the EPL. All a bit daft but good criac. I think Howe has overtaken Keegan with the number of Geordies on the pitch at the same time this season
  2. That's great eastcoast, if I get any decent pics of the bull finch will put them up
  3. I'm no expert eastcoast but tasked a work colleague with looking into this today and something in the 70 - 200mm should suit.
  4. Whatever people's personal opinions of the Newcastle takeover Howe and his team have done a magnificent job in building a team and Gordon personifies that. It is being acknowledged (begrudgingly?) in regard to Isak and Guimaraes, cannot be ignored as they were brought in for a modest fee, by modern standards, and their values have more than doubled, and money gets people's attention. Howe has done the same with Gordon. A young English player with potential but not too highly rated by most who has been one of the standout players in the EPL this season. He now plays with no fear, same as some o
  5. People emerging from hibernation and rather than watch another box set decide to take their stir crazy dogs for a walk off the lead, or go for a "run" passing so close by that you can smell their sweat or God forbid get a particle of it splashed on your own skin that burns as though acid, or play out on their bicycles and expect everyone to shift out of the way. My fault, not theirs, I need to move.
  6. Good evening, I am sure this question will have been asked on here before but I cannot find an example. I have a Canon EOS 400D digital SLR and would like to know what type of lens is most suitable for short range bird photography? My neighbours a few doors down have a "wildlife garden" and I am getting some great overspill at my simple little bird feeders. Most recently a stunning bull finch that I would like to get some decent pics of. I bought my SLR quite a few years ago to photograph my dogs and realise that it is probably ancient technology now and may require a search of the 2nd hand ma
  7. What he's saying is that we should deport all the darkies, whippets are no good on the slop and that Sunderland AFC are the biggest football club in the world. Also something about king Charles, he's either a paedophile or giant alien lizard. Just the normal craic, seems like a canny lad.
  8. Fascinating to read other people's view point from another country.
  9. If Man City win the FA cup then we will be playing in Europe in some shape or form next season, if we achieve the position in the league, which we will.
  10. Feeding on your own, gruesome but survival of the fittest personified. I read something once that said the reason that we despise rats so much is that they are the animal that most reminds us of ourselves. At the time I discounted it, these days...
  11. I have no problem with the boys and girls in blue being issued with the best possible kit with which to do their jobs, but where are they? It's anarchy on the roads these days with people driving like Mr. McGoo (the original, not our esteemed saluki loving THL member) or characters from a Mad Max movie, but you never see them getting a pull. They did get me last year though clocked at 80mph on A1M at 03:47 in the morning trying to make a 08:00 work meeting a long way from home.
  12. Getting to today's office involved a drive down to Scarborough so the Cooper S was sparked up and pointed at the moors. A most enjoyable way to start the working day. Needed to stop for a piss though.
  13. I stopped filling feeder in my back garden last year due to amount of ferals coming in, a by product of the solar panels neighbours have on their roofs. Just started putting seed in again and a pair of green finches visit daily. No ferals yet. Someone must have been shooting them with .177 Pro Sport.
  14. Add young home grown Lewis Miley and Elliot Anderson and I'd agree.
  15. More from a perspective of how much would he cost and who would we need to sell in order to comply with FFP? One step forward and two steps backward.
  16. Would rather make plans to protect, secure and further develop what we already have in those positions at Newcastle in my opinion.
  17. I have a philosophical view on Callum Wilson. If he had not been injury prone then he would never have came to Newcastle and we would not have been able to pay the price for an English CF of that quality. Having said that, we had paid £40M for a useless young Brazilian CF! Wilson's quality and goals kept our heads above water and in the EPL and the club more attractive to the eventual new owners as a result. Damned shame he's sidelined again as I would love to see him play for England in the Euros but not much chance now. I hope he is at Newcastle next season, but only as an 3rd choice o
  18. Re recent posts on centre forwards and who is or is not a genuine 1. If Alexander Isak is not a proper centre forward then I do not know what is. I do not have the knowledge/experience of those who play/manage but all that I expect from a centre forward is to play up front and centre and score goals. Isak does that and will hopefully have the number 9 on his back at Newcastle next season.
  19. I would imagine old marmelade pots marked P Bear are the most sort after by collectors.

    OJ gone

A topical joke at the time of his trial "what's the difference between OJ and Christopher Reeve? OJ's gonna walk."
  21. Are the HPR types already more akin to a lurcher than the "conventional" gundog breeds? Types of dogs developed to perform more than one task in countries with a different culture to the British Isles when "our" breeds were developed by those who shot over dogs lived in a world where you would have spaniels to find and flush, pointers/setters for the moors, and retrievers to retrieve?
  22. I haven't seen the documentaries but he always comes across as an interesting and charming man and a probable sociopath boarder line psychopath. Have not all great football managers not been the same? Fergie was, Keegan wasn't.
  23. Renault Fuego? Came close to buying a couple but by the time they were in my budget were 1 step away from the scrapyard and held together with bodge and old newspapers, interesting looking cars though. Before car designers started using the postman Pat van as their inspiration.
