Thanks Mackem, at least I wasn't imagining it. Sure we still used to sell in the club though

We often ventured up there and even ended up with some nice permission. It may seem odd given the location, and I may be getting confused, but seem to remember it was good for a salmon run leading up to Christmas in small streams and we would shoot them with a .22 Ruger pistol.

A few lads I used to know would make the pilgrimage every year. Load the lurchers and/or Bedlingtons into the pick up towing the caravan and after signing on would send their family holidays there. One of the few times a year that the dogs got out of kennels and the caravans moved out of the street.

Never knew Frank Zappa was into his dogs. Good man!

I've just managed to watch the video and of course the 24" barrel thing is mentioned in the comments. Doh!
-
Be careful with this. Unless the law has changed if the barrel is shorter than 24" then a FAC required. The vintage foreign garden guns that we used to play around with were small carbine sized things. Haven't watched the video so my comment may be irrelevant.

Champion's League final next. Joselu to complete the Roy of the Rovers craic.. go on son!

The blacked underleaver and trigger guard makes the rifle even more reminiscent of a MK2 BSA Airsporter S, the prettiest air rifle ever produced in my opinion. I do not like the silencer. My Pro Sport is quiet enough in factory spec and the clean shrouded bull barrel is more aesthetically pleasing, but again just my opinion. A lovely quality individualised rifle you have there.

That would be an ecumenical matter.

Something fishy going on here. I accept that if ghosts exist some of them could eventually move onto the next stage, but surely, there will be a constant intake of new ghosts because people die all the time? Could the truth be that our established British ghosts are getting pissed of due to an influx of foreign ghosts in recent years?

I wouldn't know Councilestatekid, I could not comment or advise regarding Orkney. I'm looking at retirement stage.

It's that time of year again, final stage of the apprenticeships selection process interviews. A bit scary as to how quick it comes around now. Drifted in and out of the here and now a few times listening to these bright eyed bushy tailed young people desperate to start a career in construction and was thinking run, run for the hills or the beaches and just f***ing enjoy life before you get too old! But it's not a bad life and we must all find a way of paying the bills, just thankful I'm coming to the end of it

Orkney is one of the places that I have been looking at on online estate agent sites. Together with most other rural areas in the British Isles, France, Portugal and Spain. Not quite narrowed it down yet , basically anywhere away from the annoying crap (people) and on walking out of the door or looking out of the window to be greeted by a vista that gladdens the soul. One place in Orkney spotted today would suit me down to the ground and well within my budget for slightly early retirement. A tiny school house converted to a domestic dwelling 15 years ago. However the listing states Pur

I've not seen a bespoke pointer worked with a running dog but have seem lurchers and terriers that pointed. Love to watch a terrier quarter ground rough open ground and start to home in ever closer with tail wagging quicker and quicker before coming to an abrupt stop. Very rarely resulting in a catch for the terrier but wonderful to see when the next move is a rush followed by a squeal or a truly wild pheasant snatched before it gets too high off the ground.

Don't mention badgers to the badger "expert" Brian Blessed AKA King of the Hawkmen.

No swapsies. But as I have been saying to people all week, and none of them believed me (in the real world), anything can happen in the FA Cup. On the day the better team won. My other prediction was that Rashford will have a blinder and make Southgate have a re-think at the expense of Gordon. Don't think that quite happened though, but he did up his game today.

We finished above Man U for the 1st time in EPL, not finished above them in top flight since 1977. Then they nick our Europe place (well Chelsea's and they get ours), spawny b#####ds But well done all the same (spawny b#####ds).
-
All Newcastle need to play in Europe next season is for City to win FA Cup, what could possibly go wrong? As my granda would have said, wye ya bugger man!

He's an odd one but I get what you're saying. Very under estimated as a musician and song writer. The American rap scene found him a source of inspiration, even odder and strange , I like that.

A time when not spotting the Kingfisher along a stretch of water was the exception not the rule...

Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in!

It was indeed. Sometimes when you see and listen to the ones who have been around awhile, even though it is great that they are still going, time has taken its tole. Not on Wednesday, it was watching and listening to musicians who have been very good for a very long time and still have it. The classic old songs tweeked just enough so that they have aged as befitting the man singing them and to those listening.
-
A really good night at the Stadium of Light despite the rain. Only indication that some of these musicians are in their 70's is how skilled they are. I asked my Sunderland season ticket holder best mate why they have a bronze of some old tramp at the ground but he didn't answer.

A good case in point being otters. Any TV programme on otters will tell us that they were almost hunted to extinction in UK before a ban came in. Truth was that the only people who noticed a decline in numbers were otter hunters. The MOHA put a self imposed stop to hunting and brought the otter's predicament to the attention of others. Of course the real reason for the decline was partly due to "liberated" North American mink but mostly to unregulated dumping of crap into our waterway systems.
