    If you want a mark and catch dog get the whippet but it might need a coat in the real cold whether ferreting is ALOT of standing around as you're aware but some whippets have better coats than others

    There is an old girl walks her westy along our canal and it quite often has a rat the old girl takes quite a pride in it

    Nice pups my brother bought a patt x lakeland from Canterbury hunts terrier man about 9 years ago turned out 17 inch yet nice dog tho wouldn't even go in a Bush fits on the sofa tho haha

    How old's the pup not really in to pats just got one as it was a gift very bully headed your pup no Much bone else where though my russell has better bone imo my pat looks more like a lake land really his sire had a big head like yours though

    Got.to the spot around 8 with a couple of lads and the photo journalist off here netted up one hedge around 90 nets dropped 3 hobs in qnd stood back didn't take long to get first bolt eventually took 12 and moved on covered another hedge and took 9 quite quickly then moved again to a vert loose hedge and took another 10 then called it a day terriers marked well and the photo journalist was a really nice bloke he can come any time 31 in all and we left around 2

    As said before by someone (who appears to know) the dog has to be actually attacking the livestock with intent to harm it. as far as I am aware, and I do try to keep up with shooting regs, if the dog is just harassing livestock you can't shoot it. I think the only exception is pregnant sheep as they lose the lambs at the drop of a hat . Either way, I think you would have great difficulty about shooting what is after all a pet. if anyone know different then tell. mate all I know for fact is this cnut Will shoot ya dog and not even blink some times we get on his farm with a lamp and no dog

    There is a farmer where I live who has.shot many dogs he once shot a traveling man's dog and dropped it at his feet 2 weeks later his new tractor got burnt out.If he catches you on his land it's best to just pick your dog up and.cary it off

    I tend to sit on the dogs bed or.at kennel door coz.every pup I've had has taken toys to their bed and as been said play tug of war or make a flirt pole then when the pup has the rag/dummy in it's mouth it's connected to you

    An old.boy I used to tag along with when I was youth had some ally ones made up 4 foot long with a.little treder 6 inches from the bottom so he could stand.them in he could set a.100 yarder about as fast.as he could walk

    If never trained a lab but I have trained a spaniel I started retrieval training at about 12 weeks same as stop to the whistle retrieving was done as part of play he wouldn't touch a ball or dummy but he loved pheasant wings stop to whistle done on a lead just walk and every time I stoped I gave stop hand signal and blew waited 1 minute then blew release and walked by 6 months old he didn't miss a beat off the lead gun training took place after a year old by this time I was able to send him out stop him and direct just make it all play not work

    Just make sure he loves every one who lives in your house and who comes round regularly maybe except the mother in law
