Yeah. A new rifle is definitely on the cards. I’ll have to keep an eye out. -
Airgun moderators

Good point... but come on... after hearing that hw100 I may as well be shooting an unmoderated .308 ? cheers for the suggestions Rez and Jimmy -
Evening all. I’m looking to pick up a moderator for my rifle, as its a touch louder than I’d like. I was wondering if any of you lot had suggestions/recommendations when it comes to moderators for airguns. I’m shooting a .22, sub 12, RWS LR25 which is a relatively long rifle anyway but I’m not overly worried about additional length if I’m honest as I’ll be picking up another rifle in the near future, as I’d like a second one that’s a bit more compact for night shooting but would still like a moderator for the RWS. Cheers Smithy

Leaking PCP rifle
Mark_mjs93 replied to Mark_mjs93's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
You’re not wrong there. As it goes it was a small brass shaving in between the inlet valve and the valve housing. I did notice that the gun was still losing pressure though. After a bit of checking under magnification I noticed the smallest little nick in the inlet valve. I searched around and it was like £14 in most places just for the actual valve. I looked on best fittings and found the valve spring and retainer screw for £9... wicked. Fitted it last night and the gun is holding pressure perfectly now. Well chuffed. Now I buy another gun anyway cause... well you can have too many right? -
Cheers Jimmy, reassuring to know I’m not the only one that can lob a rifle at a barn only to miss it ?. Appreciate the advice, I’ll learn to walk a lot quieter. It’s like when I was learning to fish. You get the buzz and you make rash decisions. Need to take your time to watch the water to know what’s going on.

very good point and I appreciate the tips Jimmy! It was definitely good to be out. As I said to Rabid, if nothing else, I scared the buggers off... Or at least into the next field haha
-
Cheers. I will keep at it!
-
Yeah, still got lots to learn, that's for sure. Just got to work at it, I'll get there eventually just got to keep at it. After all it was the first time out on my own really. Only ever really shot with others. Good shooting on foxy and the rats though.
-
I think this is HIGHLY inconsiderate of them. But cheers for the tips! I will bear all of that in mind the next time I go scaring shooting pests.
-
Cheers for that Just bloody typical... I softened them rats up for you. They thought it was me again so they didn't try to hide cause they know I'm a shite shot.

Matt, I believe it was just a standard, out of the box BSA R10 in .22. It wasn't tuned as far as I am aware. It was one of @Rabids guns so he will be able to tell you more than I can. In comparison to RWS I own, it was a dream. Lovely action on it and lovely trigger break. I much preferred the safety on it to the one on my RWS, which is in an inconvenient location to say the least.
-
welcome dude.

Friday night I was lucky enough to get a couple of hours out after some rats. I was lucky enough to borrow a BSA R10 and a Pulsar NV scope to boot. I was happier than a pig in s*** and set to make the owner proud, so to speak. Well... things did not go to plan. What began as a night brimming with enthusiasm and drive to get me some rats... turned into a total train wreck. the owner pointed out all of the places I should try, round the chicken coops, over in the goose pen, in one of the barns. He even put some bait out for the rats! I spent the first half hour watching the chicken sh

get a pair of specs with a set of hydrophobic lenses! Honestly, I would be lost without mine. Can be a little pricey but all the years of fishing and such in the rain has made them a necessity. Alternatively, try having a look at the Tilley hats, they do a good range of Hemp ones that tend to look alright regardless of the wearer haha. Get it fitted properly and you should be good. Alternatively, wear contacts. Unless you have an issue with rain on your eyeballs.

Cheers Matt, Been trying to get the groups in a bit tighter so was dead chuffed with that result. Rabid got me on the sovereigns and sorted me out a couple to try in the gun and i'm dead chuffed with the result. Jimmy, Cheers fella, They really are! I only brought them a week or so ago and I love them. I wear glasses/contact lenses so It definitely helps with getting your groups tightened up and getting things on target. Until you shoot with a pellet thats way off the mark and it misses the target completely and you're left in a bit of a "well I have no fricken idea where that one ended

exactly! You make do with what you got haha. I don't mind the cold but the shorter days can be a bit of a pain in the backside especially with shifts haha you forget what the sun looks like for a while haha. Start in the dark, finish in the Dark, don't see the sun for like 4 days haha.
-
Got that shooting itch we all know so well, whilst at work today. Well actually, I went to work with it and had nothing but shooting on my mind all day. Unfortunately for me, my shifts mean that at this time of year I don't finish in daylight unless I'm finishing a night shift... But I could not let this itch go unscratched, so with a bit of effort, a torch ducktaped to a camera tripod, and some shoot and see's I managed to get half an hour paper punching in the garden when I got in from work. Despite it being dark and shooting by torch light I managed to shoot fairly well even over the

Was going to say the same! Nicely trayed and laid out. Most impressed
-
Brill, cheers for the response.

Good shooting Matt! Quick question and it might sound a little daft but is there anything in particular you’re looking out for when checking the liver/kidneys? Or is it just anything that doesn’t look right? Shot a fair few pigeons, crows and the like but it’s a different ball game with them really. Just breast em and done.

I have to admit. I was quite surprised when I chucked the daystate sovereigns in my RWS yesterday and today. Was shooting out to about 30yards and once I got my head in the game and the wind died off a little, my groups were tightening up nicely. Got the rifle out today to get some practice in, and fit the new bipod, and I was pellet on pellet at a hair over 20 yards With no wind. I’m shooting a sub 12 and them sovereigns are 15.9gr. At the same range I was getting similar groupings with bisley magnums which are 21.4gr and my gun normally doesn’t like too much. They did hit a little low and w

Yeah, i've done the same with a few new anglers. I've been fishing for years and I've taken my fair share of new anglers out only to find them not appreciative at all. Nothing grinds my gears more really. I always appreciate new opportunities and especially when people give up their time to put up with me for the day haha.
-
It was! And I appreciate it a lot! He’s a really sound bloke.
-
He did mention something about ‘not even liking daystate. I fear I’ve b*llocked yo my chances when he sees this now haha ?
-
Cheers guys, it was indeed! Especially after the debacle last night when my gun sprang a leak and had me wondering if today would even be a possibility and Rabid talking me through sorting it all out as well! Funnily enough, 10 minutes after I arrived and we started shooting Rabid's Daystate developed a near identical fault and began leaking air from the filling port haha. Unlike me Rabid had another gun to hand haha.
