Stud worn out thread in synthetic stock
Mark_mjs93 replied to Will333's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I cant see it being an issue mate. What i would say is take the stock off, have a look at the inside, if the stock is mostly hollow, you may be able to drill out the old thread and fit a nut on the inside of the stock with a small washer (Assuming it doesn't affect the fit of the action into the stock.) That may be easier than fitting a brass thread into the stock and would provide a more secure fit for your bipod and sling. - here is an example of the stud i'm talking about http://bit.ly/2Du7P90 -
Stud worn out thread in synthetic stock
Mark_mjs93 replied to Will333's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
A couple of questions mate, is it a brass thread or is it just a thread tapped into the plastic? What gun is it. And what bipod/sling stud are you using? I only ask as if it's just plastic then your best bet would be to either fit a brass nut into the stock using epoxy. Alternatively if it's a brass thread and the thread has stripped, replace it. It will take some elbow grease to get the old thread out but you can then use the same hole and fit a new nut/thread for it. As blackbriar said loctite 4090 is an option although very expensive. Get yourself some strong multi material epoxy, bit -
Agreed and agreed

I have absolutely no problem with someone disposing of shot game. There are loads of reasons shot game might not be eaten, surplus to needs, badly shot damaged, accidentally left in a boot in the summer (saw that happen once... not petty). But if you don’t want it, and you aren’t giving it to your dogs. De-brace it, drive out to the country and toss it under a hedge. Or bin it. Or burn it. Or bury it. Don’t bin bag it and leave it in a bloody car park! If it’s wildfowl it should have been shot with non toxic shot, give it to ferrets, or bird of prey centres might have it off ya. H

Got out piking this morning. On my way back to the car I almost tripped over a large black bag chucked in the undergrowth. Thought nothing of it to start with until I saw something that looked animal-like sticking out. I cut the bag open and found 5 brace of mallards both males and females and a couple of braces of pheasants. Decomposing, braced with nylon cord around their necks and chucked to rot in a hedgerow. Firstly, what a complete WASTE of shot game. Secondly, whoever did it should be ashamed of themselves, dumping a load of shot game in a public car park in a high traffic area (a

more than likely mink damage that. Otters are far less likely on a brook. More chance it's a mink that's had it. Looks like it could be a small Koi maybe? Could have been picked out of a pond by a heron or cormorant and ended up in the water. mink probably got an easy meal. Found a 20lb mirror carp dead by my local river the year before last, chuffing great big munch out of its belly, killed by an otter for sure but 90% of the fish was still there. Real shame to see as they are proper old school wildies in that river. Don't see em now since the otters moved in.

Typical ? I always end up doing it. I see something shiny and I’ve gotta get it before I have a chat with people and see who’s got what about. I’m thinking tomorrow might not be on the cards at this rate though. I’ll have to drill a hole in the ice haha

Sounds cracking, I’d love a chance to get out and do some sea fishing as I say. At the absolute minimum my goal is to get out and do some spinning from the rocks. It’s an ugly stik gx2 6ft spinning rod, fits my needs perfectly. Got a few other rods for heavier stuff if I need it but I wanted a small, lightweight rod with enough backbone to take a beating. Wicked rods, love em!

Haha nah it wasn’t meant as a hint ? just a target for the year as I’ve done no sea fishing at all. Even if I just get some done off the rocks or beaches etc. My new ugly Stik arrives tomorrow morning, just in time for my 4 days off. Probably get a few hours stalking with lures on the river in the afternoon ?? Need to stock up on lures again too, have all mine away years ago.

I’m hoping for a 40lb+ common and a particular 30lb mirror from one of my club lakes. Also hoping to get out sea fishing at some point this year as I’ve never been and a double figure carp on the fly is also on the cards. Currently working on getting a few more pike on lures too but that’s not as much of a target as a ‘I’ve got half an hour I’ll get out on the river’ I just keep the rod, lures and net in the boot.

it's a shame to see them being so ridiculous about. It's not that surprising if I am honest. The fact of the matter is, it's a controversial issue. some don't like shooting or hunting and I know that most of us get that. However it makes them look like they are doing something about 'controversial' youtube content. Arguably the videos of warfare and from warzones etc are argued as 'news worthy' etc. I would disagree, I don't want to watch someone cut in half by a train, regardless of whether I am over 18 or not. Personally I can see this being an issue that's brushed under the carpet because a

So should I put my bag and scissors back in the cupboard or......? And ah that makes a lot of sense about the clover, sorry, you did tell me that last time I saw you. Easy to get confused by all this farming malarchy!

Cracking shooting Vman. Not a huge fan of .177 myself. Always shot .22 myself but as you say, know your guns and capabilities and your golden. They all do the same job.

Stickmaking, how hard/easy?
Mark_mjs93 replied to Parabuteos lad's topic in Countryside Skills, Craft & DIY
Good man Jok, nice to see people helping each other in a bad situation. Hope your dad gets on alright Parabuteos lad. Strokes are bloody evil things ? aunty has one last year and it was a real shock. Luckily she was a nurse so recognised the signs quickly. Your dad is a lucky man. -
I didn’t want to say anything but I guess that explains it. ?

It might be a daft question, I know that pigeons attacking crops is obviously no good for farmers etc but what effect does them going at the clover have? Sorry for the daft question

Good shooting Mitch, it was chuffing cold here last night too!

Land permission in Peterborough UK
Mark_mjs93 replied to Acetuck's topic in New Member Introductions
Welcome dude, I see you have already encountered the hardest part of shooting... Finding shooting. I've been lucky this year in that I have had the chance to shoot with a fella from the forums at his farm. It's hard going sometimes you have to really get out and knock on doors. remember that it is kind of hard going in places at the moment (I know the land I was allowed to shoot had a struggling head of rabbits at the moment). Could you give us some background as to what sort of shooting you are doing? Are you just into your airgunning? Or have you got a Shotgun Certificate or Firearms Certifi -
I can highly recommend the Montane Extreme Smock. I’ve got one and have used it in extreme conditions down to -13 and had no issues. If anything, too warm, unzip the vets in the sides and your golden. Massive kangaroo pouch on the front and a connected hand warming pocket behind that. A guy I know used mine when out ice climbing in Iceland a couple of years back. First day he wore a full layering system, baselayer, mid layer, heavy mid layer, outer shell. By the end of the day he was absolutely soaked through, freezing cold and edging on hypothermic. I’d advised him to take an extreme smock an

Fair point. Didn’t think of that actually! They can be but understandably sometimes. I will keep an eye on the place and if it looks like it’s getting hammered I’ll go have a chat.

Cracking advice. Cheers Dude!

See now I’m just jealous ? tried getting the day off work but can’t have it as we have some training on. Typical! Have fun you lot -
No idea ? I didn’t ask what permissions you had my way. And as I say, it was a rejection... I ain’t poaching anything. Besides, you’ve seen how I shoot. I wouldn’t be worried, even if I do there will Be plenty for you to shoot still ?
