  1. Had that with araldite before when using powder, after 2 days i picked it all out and re-mixed it and it was fine. I wondered at the time if it was humidity related
  2. I used to do a lot of wildlife photography and on one estate the owners asked me to photograph any car I saw parked beside the road by there fields.
  3. Yep, yews lovely to turn another favourite of mine is elm burr, this hollow form from back in the summer And also a coffee table from last month
  4. Was going to post some pics of my previous woodturnings but thought I may as well just go and make something, so this is what I did this afternoon. Local yew felled last winter but had been dead standing for a year or so before, was hard as hell ??
  5. I'd be really keen to get a simple fixed blade without handle, I've got some lovely wood here thats too small for wood turning but too good to use as kindling
  6. How do you get in touch with agouti? Both me and my neighbour have sent messages on the contact us page of the website and neither of us has had a reply, can't see any other contains t details on the site. They might do great kits but if we can't get in contact we can't buy. Who else can we buy kits off?
  7. That tip about sticking the locator down the top of your wellie is genius Yeh for those of you with slim calves ,,,,,but some of us struggle to get wellys over said area,,,,lol Yeah I tried this today and its not right for me, just too tight
  8. Could they have got hold of any poison? Sounds worrying
  9. That tip about sticking the locator down the top of your wellie is genius ??
  10. Never used frontline spray but doesn't it work in the same way as the spot-on stuff does on the dogs? I mean doesn't it keep killing the ticks for a few weeks after application? Does anyone use the spot-on stuff on their ferrets?
  11. Kind of like this recipie but then I put it in a dehydrator (Andrew James on off Amazon) to dry itit. Really easyhttp://www.yuppiechef.com/spatula/how-to-make-biltong/
  12. I make biltong using the back straps and thighs, great snack to take out ferreting. Either that or curry
  13. I'd also be interested in a 4th option, a basic, high quality blade that I could put my own handle on. Would be a good use for the elm burr off cuts from my turning.
  14. We've had a single rabbit causing a few problems in the veggie patch this week, little sod's been eating my Christmas sprouts! Anyway this morning, in some dreadful weather the other half says she's just seen him going under the potting shed. Out we go with 2 stop nets and the hob, 5 minutes latter and we've got lunch??? Now let's just hope he was alone.
  15. That's how I read it, this is for an extra collar. A search using the manufacturers name gives lots of sites in French with prices for the finder and collar very similar or slightly more than Deben prices here. My guess is that its either made and sold under licence frm Deben or its the name Deben trade as in France.
  16. Just placed an order with nelson this evening, can't say enough about the help and advise he's given me (a complete novice) over the last few days. Thanks mate
  17. 10kg from Amazon for £28, maybe cheaper elsewhere but works out cheaper to me (Scottish island) because of the free postage.
  18. Even better today, 9 in about 2 hours Going to try making rabbit biltong tomorrow.
  19. So today was the first ever day out for me and the ferrets, well I say first for me but I did used to go out with me mate and his dad when I was at school but that as back in 1981! So I think I'm classed as a newby. Definitely the ferrets first time out as they're both youngsters. I'd checked out a few small burrows during the week to give all of us an easy start to the season, met up with henry at the first place, a walled garden with plenty of bunnys about, netted up and put the hob down with great expectations. Spent 1 1/2 hours in that garden without a single bolt, not a sign of anything.
  20. Thanks guys, kind of what I was thinking, goes along in much the same way as bonding with a puppy. Had a great play session with them this evening
  21. I recently got my first ferrets, born the end of May so still quite young. Trying to spend half hour morning and evening with them in the big run (12 foot x 6foot) just letting them play and handling them, letting them get used to me. Now, when they're feeling playful and I pick them up they tend to mouth my fingers a bit, not biting hard, just playing. Do you guys feel this is OK or am I making problems for myself down the road by allowing them to do it. I spent many years shepherding and with my pups I would always play with them and let them mouth my hands, I'm a great believer in letti

    Myxi

Ahh- in that case my theory is blown out the window! Oh well.

    Myxi

This makes perfect t sense to me. If myxi comes through a population of rabbits and kills off all the animals except those that are immune then there will only be immune animals left to rebuild the next population and therefore the offspring are more likely to be immune. I know this is a very simplistic overview but over several years with several bouts of myxi this must be happening.
  24. Just got my first ferrets, both born this May. At the moment I don't have a finder but I'm quite keen to start getting them used to wearing the collar. Anyone got any tips for where I can get something similar for a few quid just till I get a finder.
  25. Got any pictures? I would love to get a camper but unfortunately finances have always held me back. Not a classic VW though, my experience of one of them was extremely cold and draughty.
