These are the 2 pups i run on from the litter of 3, brother & sister nearly 5 months old, dog is keen as mustard on owt that moves bitch is a bit steadier i like her better an all. Waiting for them to finish teething before doing a bit of ratting later on at the aunts farm, won't be touching the red uns until maybe end of the season though, they might just be mature enough to have a couple runs out with some of my older lot. Took forever to take these pictures, they ain't natural posers thats for sure had to give them a few first Bitch Cruella 'Ella when shes being good :11: '

Where did all these old dogs go? years ago you didn't see the leggy types about such as JRTCGB & Parsons types, most farmers & a few of the hunts had the above type of Jack but now its hard to find any that are still worked. Do you think even showing within the working terrier shows ruined the old traditional JRT as the people judging went more for the looks of the leggy white lakie cross types, or did it just die out in favour of patts etc? I see alot of lakie/fell influenece in the working show rings too much now. When you take a dog out like the above type thats worked for a good 7

I'd be interested to know whos line the mother is from? she looks like some of my stock.

Great pictures! i have a bitch just like the one the mans holding. I keep all small uns but they have straight legs rather than bench ones. We work them they are nasty little gits when working but sound in the home.
-
www.foxwarren.co.uk don't know if he still works them as much though seems to be into showing but odd ones are still on loan to hunts so you never know unless you get in touch with him.

Rescued a debarked lakeland
CumbrianJack replied to cdnhastings's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I sent one of my JRT males to the USA where the prat de barked him! Why when he didn't bark much anyway but he had it done, now all the dog does is cough like an old man whos smoked all his life! thats all he can manage for a bark. Some de barking is done by vets & some large scale breeders de bark the dogs by shoving a pipe down the dogs throat (not sure what kind) & hit it with a hammer to rupture the dogs voice box (only heard of this happening in puppy farms mind). Freaks the whole lot of them. Why buy a terrier whos main purpose & instinct is to use its voice. Nothing you -
Don't you just love the little uns, nice looking dog, i have black/white bitch similar to him.
-
Great boxes, may have to buy some of these off you, would take up less room than dog cages in the van anyway.

Yes so easy to blame mental illness or a split personality for you actions these days isn't it!
-
The woman has not got mental health problems! for goodness sake why are you & certain others in the USA trying to brush this under the carpet & make excuses? She had the ability to go get her dogs ready for a show & to breed, sell, advertise her dogs shes not mental. As to donations mines already on its way 24hrs ago mate! I guess its ok for you to say what you like about anyone or anything yet when anyone else has an opinion its all codswallop is it? Hypocrite comes to mind. I haven't slandered any organization i just would dearly like to know why something wasn't done to stop

My response is that JRTCA have a code of ethics like all breed clubs, this woman was exhibiting her dogs & trialing them she was also registering her stock with them, is it not a breed clubs duty to question how many pups/dogs are being registered to a breeder each year? surely all breed clubs have a duty to the breed 'protect & preserve' comes to mind but seems as long as a breed clubs gets your membership money & registration money they don't care what you do with your dogs & why have other breeders who have been to the home to visit these dogs not said anything about it or

She has family & a husband i believe so why weren't they helping out? & who in their right mind keeps 270 dogs! & says they work them all? no excuse for it as far as i am concerned, JRTCA should be checking breeders out better.

I am crossposting this information from a freind. If this is what JRTCA promote as good breeders then they need their heads looking at. This all happened this week. It has come to my attention that a breeder of the JRTCA has been charged before for horrific conditions that she had kept her dogs in. When she had the 270 dogs before she was a member of the AKC. I have provided you with many links on this story and as well as her link on the JRTCA breeders list. On Monday, members of the SPCA spent the entire day removing 271 dogs from the home of Morris and Sherri Jo Berend, who live o

We always put salt into the end of the stump where the tails been cut & tie the end up with the bone still in the tail, hang it up somewhere to dry for a couple of weeks & the tail will be fine & fleas dead.

No one in their right mind would clip a working terrier

I had a white male looked like that bitch you have, he was pure lakeland though.

Getting dogs across the atlantic
CumbrianJack replied to cdnhastings's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I ship my dogs all over the world, even reykjavik now has its first ever JRT from me! To ship to the USA or Canada the dog has to be over 12 weeks old & vaccinated + microchipped, must also have a full health check & health certificate as well as acclimation certificate from the vet 24hrs before leaving. They must travel in a Vari airline crate in the hold, some routes are via Heathrow only & others you can get from Manchester, most of ours have flown via Manchester to Chicago then onto a connecting flight to whatever state or country. Costs £150-200 for the flight which isn't t -
see you opted for a longer leg type, hope he turns out well for you. Do his parents work or just show dogs?
-
Theres a man in Colorado called Lou Vairo has some plummers, he imported them from legion kennels, i think he gave them away to his vet as he had to work away from home, i know he had a breeding pair & a bitch in pup so maybe they will have something to offer you..................however he also said the dogs were looney always killing things they shouldn't & attacking other dogs maybe a good deal of work would sort them out though as with all terriers that aren't worked fully they become bored & quarrelsome. Patts & Fells you won't go far wrong with theres not many who don'
