I have mini schanuzers & although they are actually quite prey driven there is no way they can go to ground, they have anywhere from 19-25" chests on them . Mine have been brought up with terriers so do what the terriers do above ground but no way can they get down to charlie Mine are from show lines but haven't been shown, they hate showing & i hate all the trimming & puffing of the coats!LOL They are by far though on the whole just pets & i think mine are exception to the rule because they think they are russells.

Sorry but as a long term owner of Jack Russells i'd not give this dog house room, the old fella used to say to me once a dogs bitten it cannot be trusted again, best way for it is a walk down doggy central imagine what it will do when the baby cries! if it gets hyped over a fire alarm well.............. its your dog though & you have a few other options i guess, 1) if the dogs not neutered & you have no plans to breed it have him done, won't affect his working ability if you intend working him but it may calm him down a bit 2) definately consider a kennel for both dogs not just the o

I watched it, its about time the public saw some truth & how much affect this stupid governments actions have on peoples lives. It was a good documentary although i doubt some of the bunny huggers would see it that way.

Ok well all the brightmore dogs & brightmore bred dogs i have came across in Cumbria have all been relatively small, about 13-14" with very spannable chests, good decent heads for the size of the dog, hard jackets & majority black, all in all real workmanlike terriers that get the job done. I haven't seen one that was big? what would you call big? any pictures of these dogs. Bills son still has some dosen't he?
-
LOL, apparently no its not a fake, the dog has been seen by vets etc & had tests done to see if its been given hormones to grow so big. Edited to add ok i found the fake pages at urban legends, pretty good fake though

Thanks for that Bedly, would you happen to be able to get hold of a picture of her by any chance? What sort of size are they?

Hercules was recently awarded the honorable distinction of Worlds Biggest Dog by Guinness World Records. Hercules is an English Mastiff and has a 38 inch neck and weighs 282 pounds. With "paws the size of softballs" (reports the Boston Herald), the three-year-old monster is far larger and heavier than his breed's standard 200lb. limit. Hercules owner Mr. Flynn says that Hercules weight is natural and not induced by a bizarre diet: "I fed him normal food and he just grew".... and grew, and grew, and grew.

Does anyone know what they are? or have any pictures?

Hasn't eddie moved home now & only has about 40 dogs? Moorman that dog is very bully looking. Whats its pedigree? Its bound to have one coming from Eddie.

Glad you left them be & hopefully they will grow up & you'll meet them another day. My grandfather used to hand rear the cubs if the dog had killed the vixen, if they survived they survived if they didn't then thats the way it went, my grandmother was a dab hand at rearing them though for re-release at a later date. Its funny how some terriers won't kill the cubs, vast majority of ours (even a couple of the males) would bring them out alive as well. Its nice to see some terriermen are still 'old school' we have enough blood thirsty maniacs in this game to sink a battle ship.

Ah if only this were true and we could believe in human kindness towards their animals. Sadly its not true and a friend of mine who lives in kent went to check out this place, do they just breed this type of dog? sadly NOPE they have lots of other breeds too and he seen at least 40 breeding bitches 20 being pocket terriers or whatever they want to call them, the pups stank from being in kennels so were not house reared. They are gypsy types he reckons, they have very strong essex accents. But where there's money theres s***e i think the saying goes. As to working dogs! well...mice maybe. -
Why even argue about the price of a terrier? afterall its their money to do as they wish with and put it this way if some fool came up tp you and offered you more money for a pup than the recommended price or mega money for a dog that didn't work well but would win rosettes i bet you'd take it. I know of someone who imported a working gundog for £12,000 had 2 litters sired by it done some gun work and found it dead in its kennel a year after import... now thats big money

Great post shamo My own terriers aren't bothered by hounds, horses or the horn, infact if they hear a horn on the TV in a documentary they will all jump up from a slumber & get all excited. I don't think majority of people with terriers go with a hunt for a wage, most do it because they are passionate about hunting.

English Bull terrier he has the long nose & slight dome look.

It's a Wolf in Fox clothing :11: :11:

You say you have plenty of work ...............Well i don't have plummers but i'm up for a weekend out hunting, i have a couple nice young dogs starting out (fell crosses) & 2 older dogs (Jacks) with 4 & 5 seasons under the belt needing some work because theres not much happening on my permission lately mind you i am a dab hand with a shovel & if your any sort of weirdo you'll be feeling the back of it :11:

Out of all my JRTs i don't have a dog over 17" chest the majority are 12.5"-14" chest, height of the JRTs is none over 12" & the lakie/fell male is 13" tall with a 12" chest, his sister is 9.5" tall & 11" chest.
-
Yes he is one of my males, he is uncle to the black pups mother. He is only 3 year old himself so still has plenty of life left in him. This is one of his bitch pups from a litter we had off him march this year, shes been sold on now as i have no room for anymore.

I don't think there has to be a reason other than i wanted a pair of workers from a line i know can work, dosen't bother me what colour or cross they are as long as they work. Many many good working dogs contain other breeds, besides its hard to find a proper working russell with a head that can equal a lakie unless of course it has lakie in it (which many do) or even bull blood. At least with this cross i know where & how both parents have been bred & what they have worked. Time will tell but i am happy with the pair of them & the other brother is also in a working home.
-
I have had 3 & have never had a problem with them, they are the same as any other worker anyway but sometimes quicker to mature i find them good workers on most quarry they are fairly gutsy little dogs as long as they get the job done i don't care if they have a looney moment every now & then (don't we all :11: ) i think majority of bad tempered patts are those bred with bull blood in them as most bull breeds are bred for fighting so have very little sense they only see red. I think all dogs are trainable to a point but one should never be complacent with any breed they can all ha

(Rubys) black Fell dog Todd Brightmore bred x one of my russell bitches going back to D.Jones Pinto. Mother is a tiny litlle thing used for rabbiting & ratting mainly but her dam, sire, grand dam & grandsire all worked reds, she just came out a bit small for reds IMO.
-
I hope they turn out an all! The bitch is 9" tall at the minute & the dog is 11.5" she'll probably make 11" & him 13" i'd say by time they stop growing. There was another dog in the litter a real monster pup he's in a working home now has a head like a bucket & is nearly 12" so hes going to be a big lad, hes rougher coated than these 2 who are just broken. He had just a bit too much fire in him for me though even as a lal pup he was always picking fights & causing trouble.

Whos is the red terrier? Always amazes me how these working terriers stand like they were born show dogs all the time, :11: can't get mine to stay still longer than 10 seconds.

Why not weld the kennel together? I have 10 kennels all box steel & 1" heavy wire welded to the box steel then roe bolted to the floor & walls of the kennels, purpose built kennel though 40ft by 12ft double block then insulation & single brick outside, noise dosen't escape & dogs don't either!LOL I had some wooden kennels before that, looked nice at the start till i bought meself a black fell who chewed through every bit of wood in his pen & learned how to open the other dogs gates! Sounds like your lad should have been called houdini or however its spelt?? Have you an
