gos are one of the hardest birds to start with so where you got that info is beyond me and 400 acres is not a lot of land mate by far ,u need be out with it killing around 5 days a week ,so that's a lot of quarry to go at to keep the bird fit and happy .the things with new people getting into the sport is the have never spent a season and seen the ups and downs before getting a bird .I wish people would not rush into it like the vast majority are doing licence the sport before its to late mr prime minister

how many times you actually been out with a bird or just seen on at a show ? how much hunting land you acquired before even thinking of getting a bird and what quarry you got to go at ?

Look at the law and ur mentor will advise you on the bird that suit you ect its not as simple as just getting a bird like UK even though I wish it was the same ,

put a shoot in and feed in the dark ,then when morning comes the food is on the floor there Is no association with you making any noise

seclution is by far the best way as a bird at top fat weight does not want much to do with you and this results in stress marks in the feathers,that makes fracture points in the feathers where they can break.the bird is totally relaxed and able to moult out freely on a good quality diet .

fly any bird first if you been shown the correct bird ,a redtail is a great first bird regarding a gos its like have a bloody job and I had one and wont ever have one again ,I was coming home from work on early shift ,dashing in the the bird then out and then get it a kill fingers cross and I found it took all the fun out of it ,if you don't work and can fly 5 times a week to have a fit gos then get a mentor and let him decide ,simplessssssssss

also you see birds cleaning there beaks on rocks and this keeps there beaks in trim also ,good old mother nature

any bird is right for what quarry you have its like always if you learn of a falconer you can fly any bird you want as you should have to know how of how to look after a raptor

make sure if you get the offer that bird is ok round ferrets or you be a ferret down,better using white ferrets

if you get it taking this lot breed it and sell chicks for 2k each as you got one hell of a harris,as for mugging out the window what fun is that !!!! alot of the sport is about the slip and watching the birds agility ect in the flight and alot of the time not catching ,throwing it at a bird at the rd side is not exactly sport is it ?? if thats the quarry u want then get a falcon or gos

its almoost moult time so a few mm is neither here or there tbh why bother ,i use a dremel

its not about not wanting to help its about people using you ,had it happend so many times ,someone befriends you and cant do enough for you and your taking them out showing them as much as you can everytime ,going way out of your way for them to get birds or taking them out with you only to find as soon as they got waht they wanted out of you you never see them again only time you do there on your land poaching your game ,im not a sob in any way and if you new me you would agree but there is always a different side to everything , good luck in the sport
