have you got the ferrets in fulkl view of the bird all day as this will help ,u want to take someone with you when you start ferreting to grab the ferret incase the bird goes for it .id leave the dog at home at the mo if he is running in abit like u said unless you got full control of the dog and he knows the score, one take one bad thing to happen and scare the bird to put him of dogs for along time.as you was saying he ran in and made the bird fly of is not really ideal , get him as fit as poss before entering him and ferret a hole in a open field with as little cover for the bunny to make c

as u say ur a novice so get a mentor and not learn as you go as only thing that will suffer is the bird ,seeing it over and over again and please dont add to this list .. a good mentor will be able to get you to fly any bird u want to ,all depends on land, quarry ,time available to you

i live in merseyside and ther most i have seen on one thermal is 11 birds going from about 200ft upto about 800ft.commons are moving more and more into towns same as the other birds u have spoken about .as long as there is carrean for them and worms ect you will get them ,just look how pere's have adapted to town life and are breeding fine so no reason for commons to do the same

bit past future bird stage now took the plunge 3 months since, not looked back, waited a lng time for this and have no intentions of messing it up, sure stuff has and will again go wrong but she has taught me something everytime Im with her, we not far off that first kill, out in morning flushing with the dog, she will be bang on perfect weight and she been very close last time out so its in the post are you slipping her of the fist as u might have more success if the bird is up in a tree following on then u can concentrate working the land and getting the bird a good slip .the key is get

fitness in anybird is key ,look at how many people have a gos lets say and work all week,in winter its dark by 4pm so there not flying monday-friday so then go out with there so called amazing gos and fly it say-sun ,there answe then is 'i do rope training or high jumps to get him fit 'imho that nothin like the real thing and willnever replace chasing a partrage in the air while its pumping its wings to get it instead of a half fit gos pumping then cracking its wing open when pumping a sure sign of a unfit bird . i love redtails and would have one over a harris ,not enough people flying them

bullets where designed for a bird on a kill for ease or for puting on the bird when out in the field and NOT for tethering a bird on at home ,dont trust them and never will .dont invent the wheel again when there is nothing wrong with it
-
fly any bird u want as long as your leanred the ropes proper there is no reason what so ever u cant fly any bird,im fed up of hearing people saying 'get a harris as your first bird ' you look at your quarry and time and then get a bird to suit
-
all centres are bothered about is ur money as its a buisness to them ,find someone local and spend a season with them ferreting ect fo them ect ,and they inturn will learn you the ropes ,first thing first is sort your land out as without that its a waist of times mate

good on ur mate ,might be hard now making him to the hood as its best done on the early manning stages ,if you are going to get a hood make sure you buy a good quality hood and not one of these crap things of ebay for £10 as a bad fitting hood will make thing 10x worse u get what u pay for in a hood mate, for a harris id go for a wuality anglo as the shape fits a harris better than a dutch i feel

when he is on the glove and no food there ,keep the jessies tight so he cant foot u and stroke his feet so he knows its not a bad thing and you know he cant foot u ,if ur a bit worried he might us the feather .

dont need ot feed at home as if you can feed away from the house every time u can and this way u will not get a screamer ,washed meat is awlays the best wat to reduce a brds weight than giving it a smaller ration and only letting the bird have half a crop to get the weight down.if i feed at home i will place the food under a pot and hve a long line tied to if with the food under the pot,after5-10mins i will pull the line to reveal the birds ration, this was the bird has no association with you what so ever.
-
the best manning is having the bird working on the glove with a tiring mate ,get as many tirings as you can get for ur walks .this is help you so much and will get a rock stead bird, have you been stroking the birds feet with a feather to get him used to things around his feet like i suggested
-
get knocking on farmers doors ,you be very lucky if anyone that does not know you let them on there land as people are very wary of poepl then coming onto there land after and poaching it ,have you not got any land now to hunt on
