  1. shello dont forget the double door as u will never regret it .or cut a bit of for the weight room and have the extra door in that way do it right the first time and you wont have to disturb the bird ect once you got it .a tip is where ur going to put the roost for when he is free lotfed and put some thick plastic where the bird is going to shit and alot easyier to clean also make the high birch's removeable so when u have the bird on its pirch teathered he will not be bating to the highest pirch
  2. harris is perfect to clear them away from the place but u wont be catching them ,u could do it on a lamp at night when there in roost and fly the bird at them that way , to kill them of is tricky as flying a falcon round fatorys is not good imo and asking for the bird to get injured what experiance you got with birds ?
  3. guy sorry if i come across wrong as stated its so hard to put ur point across in a letter but that i try to get across is people now days want to get a bird before even ever going out hunting with the bird ect after just seeing one at a fate ect .i try to tell people to go out of the winter months with someone and get a proper taste for it ect ,what u got to remember is the amount thats popped up of the yrs and alot of them for the wrong reason and not for once sayinbg any of u lads are and if i can help i surely will
  4. here is an example of a centre nr me that i went to with someone who was volentering there and the owner took me round and was showing me all his bird ,this was a place that was a rescue centre and had around 150 birds in there, after going round he took me to a place out of sight weather he was showing of or what ever and shown me 2 wild pere;s that had been taking in and where back to good health and fitness and where more than ready to be released but he told me he was keeping them so he could breed of them, this is totally out of order but show what these places are like same as when seen t
  5. if thinking of getting into the sport invest into the dr nick fox dvds there invaluble and learn so much and always got them to refair to in the future ,id recommend this than any course
  6. i beleive is should be like the usa where u have to do an apprentiship or how ever you spell it and that way people would have to put in the time and commitment and learn before ever getting a bird ,is joke how anybody can go out and buy a bird if they got the money in there pockets, boy is at a fate and sees a display and sees mr cute barn own and asks daddy can he have one ,daddy goes home and on the net and that weekend they have a owl ,you think that is ok then ???? you feel it is ok that anyone can go out now and buy a eagle or any other bird just cos they can afford it ?? my issue is r
  7. buy the dvd seriers of nick fox
  8. totallty missing the point ,regarding the course i was saying that the people offering them are only after your money and dont give A CRAP about you being the next falconer or they would offer you it for free, what it is to them is buisness and praying on people. regarding harris hawks u have to look at the amount that are being bred and bought ,the vast majority get a harris for a season or 2 and in that time normally start talking about how much they want a gos next or long wing and soon sell the harris orand get what they wanted in the first place so as i was saying if you want a gos or e
  9. What if he cant get a mentor thats near him ?? are you offering to mentor him then mate ? Like he says mate get a harris hawk like the rest of us useless twats and just hope for the best mate thats what we all do. if he cant find a mentor then dont get a bird i say,am i offering ,no why cos im already mentoring 2 people here ,one in york, and one of here .and ur last quote is very mature
  10. give me a redtail anyday over a harris how come all the books ive read and all the falconers i have spoke to which is about a dozen or so say a HH is the best bird for a beginner then? are they wrong or is it just that too many folks are trying to get in to falconry that you seem to post negative comments? i was told a HH is definately the best 'first bird' as they have the best temperament to learn with i mean i'm probably wrong as i'm just setting out in falconry but if those that know suggest something surely it's sound advice!! ok then first a redtail is far a better bird than

  13. any bird u want its all about the quarry u got to go at the time you got to fly ,reason i say any is you should have the knowlage and bird management to fly any .so get a mentor that knows what he is doing and u wont go wrong or do what alot do and just get a harris and then try learning from then on wards

  16. not at all as he is a pr bird and not a imprint ,id get him out killing now with someone as i say the first yr is so important and u want him killing cos he could end up vocal also but up to you, i suffer very bad with my back and take 22 pills aday to keep me going and sometimes they dont get rid of the pain so i know exactly what back pain is like
  17. good luck with the op if it was me id lend the bird out to someone with experiance and ge tthem to get him kilomg as thew first yr is so importemt in in a bird as this is where alot of muscle is grown and experiance can and should be learn then once he is killing good and muscle put on u can leave him alone
  18. what u after then hunting or learning stuff as if later get the nick fox series learn a lot if the first there all the same

  20. alot better out there thank ben long sytem for that money
  21. thats only 3/4 ox over a season thats nothing as id expect a bird flown well to but on a couple or oz of good muscle and going of ur 2 5 3/4 if would expepect the bird to be around 2-7 1/2 ish at the endthis is a superior harris and whats fat weight on pulling this yr mate
  22. was thinking the same also maybe to low ,you say she started the season at 2.4 last yr what weight did she end the season at ??????????
  23. hoods are a strange thing even the best of hoodmakers dont always get it right and have to remake another hood a size either way.if u get chance take a pic of the bird hooded and ill try and see if its a good fit,if there is any gaps at all around the gape the hood is no good at all as there will be light getting in .all the best entering him soon mate .you will see his attitude change once he is entered and he will get focused
  24. how are you going about making the bird to the hood fella, you would of been alot better doing this at the manning stages .where did you get the hood from and not sounding like a dick, but how do you know its a good fit as a bad fitting hood can cause hooding issues ect
  25. is this the short pile stuff u get of football pitch's
