Pool floc (flocculant) is cheapest in Australia, unless buying online from chemical suppliers. Make sure ingredient is aluminium sulphate.

The skin will only stretch so far, and as you do it, it will turn white. Also forgot to mention a couple of spoonfuls of bicarb soda is good for the solution too.

I have tanned a lot of rabbit skins with alum and salt. Your making more work than necessary. 1 kg alum, 1 kg salt, 15L water. Skin rabbits and put straight in freezer till you have around 15-20. Don't salt or flesh them. Mix your solution, put them in for 2-3 days, stir twice a day or more if possible. Pull them out and rinse them. Beginning from the backside peel membrane from skin. Should be quite easy. Keep old solution and add half as much salt and alum. Put skins back in for 10-14 days, stirring whenever you can. Pull skins out, rinse them, hang them over the bath to drip dry usin

My father had a heap of 6 metre lengths of 10mm stainless pipe, around 1mm tHick. I cut it into 1 metre lengths, flattened one end with hammer and anvil, cut the flattened end into a point with angle grinder (v shape), then bought gromets and end caps from china. These are really light and ridiculously strong.

G'day everyone, I'm from Aus and have been ferreting and shooting from very young age. I am looking to gain skills and knowledge about longnetting mainly and maybe a few other types of hunting I've only discovered by looking at this site. Billy

Thanksyou to everyone, I did not expect such a quick response. Over here long netting is a dieing art, only a few old boys can tell you a little about it. I will be getting in contact with nelson. Thanks again.

I am from Australia and have been looking at nelson's nets on eBay. I have noticed field sports UK talk about nelson quite unprofessionally on their eBay ads. I really like the look of nelson's nets. Has anyone tried fieldsportsuk? Billy

I bought a 'pet loc8tor' for $100aud. It did work enough to find my ferret in quite a few burrows. I found it very accurate but did not work below 2 feet. This was good a lot of the time as there is a lot of broken rock in the soil around CCanberra and they don't dig to deep in it. Outside of Canberra not so useful as the holes get deeper. After about a year of use I am finding it just doesn't work like it used to. Cuts out after 10 seconds. Beeps strangely and not like it used too also. Throwing out when I find a good priced tracker/finder.
