Not Been A Border Thread For A While. ..
Cargol replied to gnipper's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Always liked the border. I remember as a kid it's all the lads used to dig to. Never had one but I'd take the chance on one out if decent stuff. -
Can't see anything. You took the picture off mate?
-
What I meant was I don't think there was any need to add further bull blood. Iv seen a fair few new blood dogs, just never working. And some were more interested in killing the other terriers then anything else going on around them. Like iv said iv dug to a plummer. Several times. Im not knocking the breed. Quite the opposite. I was trying to stick up for them. Because as said in the right hands and given regular earth work I'm sure they would excel. But most will never get the opportunity. And they will always be laughed at by digging lads and thought of as nothing more then ratting te

I tend to wear the Swan dri jacket. Its wool so keeps the rain off and warm for driving round on the quad. Good hood on it aswell. But you look like some sort of monk wearing it!
-
Its not rocket science.... Some dogs are digging dogs and some are more suited to Hunt work etc.
-
Both ability and type. I keep black dogs because I like the way they work. Its just my preference. But the plummers iv dug to would suit alot of lads in the country. I just didn't gel with them.
-
You just answered your own question then didn't you. The line your talking about are not your average Russel now are they.....
-
Wirral man has a litter advertised for sale Atm.
-
I think half the problem with plummers are the people that keep them. Given the chance most would make decent enough dogs for earth work. Not out and out digging dogs by any means but able to work a fox as well as your average Russel. A mate of mine keens a good line. All remlap stuff but I would now call them his own line as he has put the work into them to keep them producing workers. Iv only dug to the pure stuff. ie not the shit from the last out cross when more bull was added. And I can't fault them for what they do. Iv said it before, I wouldn't want a kennel full. And they are not m

Have a look at the new EDRD mag pal. There is a litter in there that would suit your needs.
-
Nice that Tom. Go well over a wheaten grey bitch I should imagine.
-
Cheers pal but I don't want to bring one in untill the spring /summer. Hate having young pups through the winter.
-
Is anyone planning a litter for the spring /summer? I'm after a pup. Pm me. No shite, not fussed on a looker. Just want something that will graft. Id have a bull x but want something with a coat.

I don't think you will ever teach these lads that only do it as a cock extention. The lads that plaster face book with pictures just so there mates will say what a f***ing hero he is. They don't do it for the love of there terriers or the way of life. They do it to seek praise. Nothing more. As most of the genuine lads on here I was taught right from wrong early on. And told of it when I made a mistake or got to big for my boots. Personally I think the lads with there heads screwed on keep doing what we do. And let the twats in the game self distruct.

Foxbolter. You seem to be out just to cause an argument. You got nothing better to do. Im not a fan of Plummers in general. But it's more the people that own them that are dreamers. But to say all plummers are afraid of the dark is a stupid thing to say. If your genuinely interested in being proved wrong them send me a PM and I'll show you a plummer that you can dig to day in day out. But Iv got a feeling your not at all interested. So how about you leave the plummer folk to enjoy there terriers and chosen sport.

Cargol replied to Sweeney's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
The plummer Faithfull live in there own world. Each to there own I say. -
Iv got 4 terriers out in the Kennels at the minute and every one of them were gifted. The way it should be.
-
That looks chesty as feck pal!
-
My Advice..... If your an anti my advice is go out to your nearest motorway and walk out into the traffic. If your a genuine lad, give the dog to some one who knows what there doing and take up golf. ATB either way.

What ever floats your boat sweet heart.

Best place to get dry cow is a dairy farmer because I don't think you can buy them over the counter. Could be wrong.
-
The Dry Cow tubes are very good for treating deep puncture wounds. Any dairy farmers will have them for treating mastitis. And as said they are easy to apply because there purpose built for sticking into small holes.
