It's a step in the right direction not a back track. Cameron supports the right to hunt but they most likely know that a complete overturn of the ban would not get through. It's all about small victories and we need to take them where we can! To ban it or not is not an argument that i think will ever end so anything that takes it in the right direction is better than nowt

It's the police that are most of the problem. Would've been pretty easy for them to check the CCTV and clear the matter up. A complaint to them probably wouldn't go a miss. At least the plod that didn't do his job might get a bit of grief

I believe that If you were on CCTV You have the right under freedom of information act to see the CCTV. downside is you have to loose another tenner to get it

Old Fishing Rod (Antique?)

Thanks for the responses. Sounds like the best option is not to use it on boat. I will take some better pics. Would be surprised if it would be worth any more than the hassle of organising for it to be sold -
Hi All, I inherited this rod a while back along with a load of course fishing gear (I dont do course fishing). I've not used it yet but was thinking about using it as just a spare boat rod as it looks fairly sturdy. It doesnt strike me as massively good quality but its clearly fairly old so before it get exposed to salt water/elements and generally gets wrecked I thought it might be worth asking. Anybody recognise it, what are the chances of it being worth anything/an antique? thanks for looking

Yeh they're not the grey seals you find off the coast here. My kids are into that deadly sixty nature program's and the guy did a quick dive with a leopard seal. You could tell he was worried
-
I may be interested in this if it's still around depending on age/reliability/condition. Also if it has reverse gear

That's a good story! I don't think they're aggressive just focused on the fish. I've a mate who's a diver who has loads of footage of them swimming alongside and they look more curious than anything. That said, if I'm bobbing around on a kayak in the North Sea and 200lbs of determined blubber decides it wants my fish. I won't be fighting it for them
-
That happened to a member on here and he very nearly died because of it believe or not and it was in this country.. I can imagine how it could happen they're not stupid animals. You can see them checking you out from a distance and sometimes come in close to try grab hooked fish.
-
That pic with the guy holding the fish with the sea lion latched onto his hand/fish is ace! I've heard of a seal capsizing a kayak trying to get the bucket of makeral but nothing like that. Accidental or otherwise i would imagine having a lump of blubber like that come out of nowhere would scare the crap out of you

Good, hope it starts soon and the pilots stay safe! The more of them they kill while they're out there the better! Far better than having hundreds of trained, motivated lunatics back on the streets here

I don't know if I should be laughing or crying at that article! 8 fully grown adults cowering in a building while an 18lb max animal stalks them. Strikes me that someone has taken the 'bulldog spirit' the British used to be known for and swapped it with that of a bi-curious, asthmatic chiwowa

Should We Be Allowed To Smack Our Children ?
Slippery_Weasel replied to Blackbriar's topic in General Talk
I think it has a place but there's better ways of handling it. Sometimes the shock of it works better than shouting though. Any of you Scottish lads heard anything about the 'named person' thing that's just been passed in Scotland? Where each child before birth gets assigned a social worker type sort to oversee child welfare etc throughout their childhood, be a point of contact for the kids etc. -
The 99P Shoelaces That Cost £500,000......

What a couple of grade A fannies. A copper that cries over that - wrong temperament for the trade -
I hate that 'never me a girl like you before' one by Edwin Collins (I think)

It's when they won't move over and are riding 2 or 3 alongside each other. The arrogance of making someone else wait because they want to ride alongside another Lycra clad fuckwit. Laws should be passed to allow the legal running over of the cyclist closest to the middle of the road.

Someone's been beheaded in a factory in France as well

She mentioned her grandchild. Some of my best childhood memories are of fishing with my grandad. I feel sorry for her grand kids

I don't know why they can't just setup some thermol imaging of trucks so that every one has to pass through. Trucks wouldn't need to stop with the right gear in place

I wonder if Andrew actually believes his own bullshit! Wonder if the new owner finds himself in a position over the next few years where he's standing over 100lbs of venison thinking 'wtf happened there?!?' Doubt even Andrews dog whispering skills will stack up against 0000s of years worth of instinct when an opportunity presents itself. Especially if it's already had a bite! I like the look of the dog

Didn't know the Swiss ate dog. I wouldn't have that much of a problem with it if they went about it in a more efficient humane way but they never seem to have any compassion for stuff. For my two useless mutts being eaten is about as close as either of them is gonna get to putting protein on the table lol

I've seen the same lights in the past while walking back from lamping. Spinning and moving in a big fig of eight. Tracked it back to a disco thingy at a pub
