    Nice write up there Jim, and couldn't agree more. Due to the nature of our shooting i would agree that a .223 is sufficient and had you not had one i certainly would have. Having said that the .220 Swift is awesome. I used to be in to my Carp fishing big time and was a self confessing "tackle tart" Hence the nice wood, bling mounts and S&B scope. I also love that when ever i mention i shoot a swift it perks peoples ears up, after all i like being different. The fox shooting has been out of this world to be frank.. Since 12th September to date we have bagged a confirmed 50 Fox'

    It shoots very well, The first night out i wasn't happy with the stock fit to myself so spent an afternoon building up a comb using pipe insulation, Once finished i then covered it with a neoprene sock so doesn't look ghastly. No every time i line up a shot i know my head is in the same position and im not holding my head up to look through the scope. I have taken 7 shots with this at fox's and 6 have rolled over on the spot. Not 100% i know but you cant win them all.

    So after much deliberation, seeking of opinions and reading up I went for the .220 swift. mainly because my shooting partner has the 223 and I wanted to be a little different and pick off the further out fox's. I took my time and finally found a Ruger M77 MKII on guntrader at a bargain £200. I made the trip from Kent to Thetford and gave it the once over. Only armed with some general instructions on how to make sure it was in good condition I made the decision to buy it safe in the thought that it was cheap. This was 8 weeks ago.     It was a great night shooting thats for sure, and will certainly take some beating. We need to get together before our next outing and make some modifications to the truck

    Hello Everyone, Im new to this forum and have heard about it through a friend that is a member. I like what i am seeing and hope i can help new shooters out. Buying a your first gun, Its easy to get drawn into pretty engraving and branding, after all its there to do a job and that is simply removing the pound note from your pocket. That said i would recommend buying a proven brand like Beretta, Browning etc etc. I personally shoot a Beretta 686E sporting, Its a hardy gun and gets some abuse, I take it decoying, clay shooting and even lamping.
