Some are finicky twats, mine will not eat crows but jackdaws are ok, they bury chicken wings rather than eat them and mice seem to be their favourite of all, go wild for them "killing" them though they are already dead!

Take the bits out you have added and chrono the standard gun, check the breech seal is not nicked too.

As said have a look at Meopta Meopro, Burris Fullfield 11 or Nikon for the money you have, a lot better than MTC or Hawke. -

Had a Howa Varmint 308 that I had cut from 24" to 18" as it was a pain in the arse with a mod on stalking, shot it out to 400 on the range and deer fell over ok too, if you reload any loss on fps can be made up.

kept bull breeds for 30 years and never understand lads on a hunting site being interested in them, mine have caught the odd rabbit etc but there are far better dogs for working, you do not get the gundog lads asking about them so why the interest?

I would be more inclined to get the barrel chopped to 12" if I wanted a handy .22, the write up in the shooting times said the zero did alter after taking it down too.

Best tip there is, I have a Lakie that's 18 month now and thought he was a bit slow picking it up, he was not there just was very little game on the ground. Take him some place with plenty rabbits, foxes and squirrels and see the difference it makes.
