I have a teem of cockers of my own breeding, and I often have lads wanting pups and if I need one I do it, they will be fair for the breed, but spare pups have to be going rate or they be bought up and sold on.

that fits with my thinking, the African hit the nail on the head, give something a value and rightly or wrongly it will be maintained, at the moment they now have no value not even fun, coursing falconry or shooting, it will be interesting to see how far things go before a licence is granted.

I am lol, but you cant compare two different animals that live in different habitat, to one another rabbiting dogs will kill brown hares in long stubble, just the same.
-
a mate of mine said they can be good on the right ground, I did not find them that good, but I suppose what your running with will have an impact.

shadow you are unable to see any ones view point but your own, your very like chris packham in that respect, I have lived in the country all my life, worked in it most of it, been a poacher, a bird catcher, and a gamekeeper, I ran coursing dogs 50 years, and speak only the truth, not just based on my experience, but science also, sadly money does have a large impact on how the countryside is managed, as it does with every thing.

I don't know much about white hares, but people get very emotional about shooting big numbers of brown hares also, but large populations are un healthy, and need control and could not be tolerated from a financial viewpoint on an agricultural estate either, any wild animal population will fare better long term in a managed landscape, but needs to be managed also, when predators are removed, we used to run on one big estate where several thousand were shot each year, the last thing you want for good coursing is to many hares, almost as bad as to few lol, it is a misguided view by anti's that po

if you cant shoot them that must give them full protection so you have no loophole for hunting them IE flushing. ( pre ban )

Pure beeds where would you be without them ?

they would run over here no probs, but if run the same will stay the same, I still doubt one would make the the grade over here for most lads though, skilful running is undesirable in double competitive coursing, so a trait not bred for, over there one would assume, we as single handed runners on the other hand, look for that in dogs to breed from. -

I don't like wars all the time either, but they all get one from time to time and have to cope, all my life I hear all you need is a fast dog with a good mouth ffs if that were true I would get a grew lol, fk me that even rhymes lol, those dogs are as good as they will ever be I am afraid. -

I don't know about Spanish hares, but I do know that double handed competitive coursing, makes people think speed is the answer to every thing, it is not, slow old fen dogs would never catch a hare if it was, fast dogs on fast ground will make a hare look fast, but a fast dog with ability will cruise up take control and slow things down, I see a bitch run regular that does this very well, runs so tight its uncanny, once locked on its almost when not if, never seems flustered, that's what a coursing dog is, not a fking greyhound, that bitch wont be bragged about or seen on u tube. -
when I had the home made lamp, my mate was on the dole, and had on of those posh blue eye ones, lol
