  1. don't know if im'e honest I only read it, but there must be a limit as to what can mate what naturally as well.
  2. used to course and lamp all over that area 25 years ago
  3. he could be any combo of saluki grey, but most are not straight crosses these days but line bred, so percentages don't come into it. just have a great summer and get ready for some fun atb.
  4. she line bred mate all the usual suspects , charley, jack, snowy, tramp, coalfields, joe, etc. with regard to the hen she still does it now and again if your not looking.
  5. and make sure you stock break him
  6. deff not a first cross he has feather on his ears but a lovely pup enjoy having him negative saluki stuff is more to do with people than the dog.
  7. and don't take yourself to seriously its about having fun.
  8. I know an old ngrc greyhound trainer he had a realy good dog break his hock, the dog came back and won over £25000 in prize money over 30 years ago, so be ok I think.
  9. I also had a bitch that used to catch loads in the hedge when lamping, if I held the lamp on the spot for a few seconds where the rabbit went in she would stick her head in and pull it out.
  10. some times when coursing (pre ban) you would sometimes slip on a hare close to cover if there was not much about and a good dog can often turn these into a decent course, but not if you or the dog don't try, there are some very clever dogs in the coursing game who wont leave anything, so while I know what people are saying I still think picking runs is a weakness in a dog, stalking on the other hand to within range and then lounching the attack very clever in my eyes, I had a pure saluki once that used to run up wide in the dark when lamping and pop in behind the rabbit a very clever dog he w
  11. just goes to show we don't have all the tossers over here. they have them as well.
  12. lucy sniffing round the tate patch, latest one of my cockers was eating rosehips today.
  13. my first lurcher used to pick fruit like my present one , but my first recollection of brassicas was a first cross saluki greyhound eating sprout peelings from round the kids rabbit hutch, her father used to make me lough when the rabbit saw them coming it would jump through the hole into the nest box and luke would go straight round the back ready for the bolt, lol.
  14. my cockers are not bothered about fruit but go mad for tates even digging them up.
  15. enjoy it be back to normal next time.
  16. nice to hear different types doing it thought it might be a sal cross thing.
  17. does any ones dogs help themselves to fresh fruit veg etc over the years I had dogs that pick blackberrys, potatoes out the field or garden, cabbage and other greens, cleavers/sticky bobs, and my bitch at the moment likes to pick goose berry's black and red courants and raspberry's a mate of mine could not believe it when she took some of his banana lol.
  18. there is only one way to go with a bitch like that, if she is good enough, and your motives are genuine and that is a line bred coursing dog, greyhound would take more than it gives.
  19. its definitely a scientific fact the bitch controls size until birth then genetics take over, but there can still be an odd freak in an evenly matched mating.
  20. every one blames the saluki when there dog has an awkward streak, half a dozen breeds in the mix and saluki gets the blame, the saluki brings far more to the lurcher table than any other dog.
  21. its a scientific fact the bitch controls the size until birth so no probs, there can be the odd big pup in any litter that can course a problem, one of my cockers had a big pup ended up at the vets, with regard to breading as above only bread from good stock if you cant do that buy in, people in working cockers seem to want certain popular studs' and this leads to everything being closely bred I choose a dog based on ability for my lines not how much red is in his paperwork but there have to be enough different dogs in the blood as well, we all need to breed for quality, I went to the best fie
  22. your right of course, but in towns and cities these days there are lots of foxes and care must be taken, and I would not swim where sharks do lol.
  23. not sticking up for fox at al,l but it will of heard baby crying and responded like when you call one in, there are more babies / children bitten by dogs than foxes no doubt.
  24. I agree with trenchfoot, any way there's more important things on there plate at the moment, and besides that the toffs are still hunting, and all coursers are criminals so we are not coming back what ever happens.
  25. this is a wind up, no wonder there is so much rubbish about ffs.
