  1. must have decent feet, land looks shocking, but still sham like greys here, I remember running in a double hander in Scotland just before their ban, all the dogs were decent single handed dogs and I don't think one hare got away sadly, and that was stony land.
  2. I used to like a bit of lamping my self, think I will start again this autumn ,give the bitch a bit more work,
  3. them are spot on mate if I was ready I have one of them, but don't think they wont do the day thing cos they will my old bitch fly killed hares for fun never seen one kill as many and you can have the names she was beddy lurch x pure sal she the bigger one
  4. I have a 10 year old cocker dog here he never stops. finds anything someone shot a fox one day andi did not know and he was trying like f**k to fetch it out the brambles, I would have a lurcher off him in a heartbeat no probs.
  5. I allways think when they put a bull x to anything it only benefits the bull cross lol.
  6. you might be right there mate, but me, and a lot of better men than me, would be running em if they was consistently good enough for what we want but they aint, and I love em. give me a muinit blacky been a long day lol
  7. you don't need to blacky mate wheels already hear lurcher xlurcher wont beat it.
  8. there are one or two real gudens, the rest aren't worth feeding, we have developed our own lines from it,and surpassed it, I had a proper one thirty odd year back and I never saw one better than him and don't think I will tbf.
  9. when I was a kid loads of lurchers round our end looked like that and a lot had the black whippet muzzle going on but men what had em always seemed to be carrying summat or other cant realy remember anyone crossing a colly with a grey though just lurchers.
  10. my original coursing dogs had bedlington in, and I always fancy doing it again but bottled it, but the way the daytime job is now, soon might be the time to do it I will definitely breed a litter from the bitch I have so if I see the right dog might go this way.
  11. for general duties that would suit me down to the ground, nicely put together good tight feet, very nice.
  12. how the little pup bred mate.
  13. not my thing bull crosses but nice dogs to look at , but i don't get the big collar at all.
  14. good and fair answer and I agree they are.
  15. you had plenty of different types in your time mate, what ones do you think were the most versatile looking back, and if you did it all again what if anything would you do different.
  16. where first crosses of any breed are concerned, these days there realy is no need to bother, I cant think of any advantages they have over a line bred dog, where coursing dogs are concerned the line bred dog has more stamina, due to not having a large greyhound content, and I am sure this is the case with other kinds too, it would be nice to see a universal line bred rabbiting dog but every one likes something different, (and owt can catch a rabbit, lol) so it wont happen, with coursing it was different saluki blood was needed, and we all had to accept the fact like it or not if you wanted a
  17. a hare can cope with a wizzbanger coming upfrom behind he can make him look daft, but it don't like a dog that's getting alongside and watching and in control.
  18. no you don't understand, the dog has tones of pace, but is clever enough to slow down once it gets there, and anticipate what its quarry will do, and catch it.
  19. it to much speed hat makes them overshoot that's why coursing men like a fast dog that runs slow and therefor tight.
