I hate dogs that pick their runs, to me that's jacking, however what you describe is like gradual education, training in a way, as long as their running when you think the jobs doable, that's great.
he did not look a bad sized dog, I never bred any first cross whippet salukis, wonder if the same things happen as with first cross saluki greys, like you never get a feathered one, only ever smooth, and no black and tan in a litter.
when I first saw this picture on the other thread, I think I had commented that a bitch can control the size of the pups until after the birth, my bitch was bred the opposite way to yours, weather this has any bearing on size I don't know just a thought.
sounds a decent cross and looks a nice little bitch how is she bred, this little bitch from the 70's was perhaps a couple of inches bigger and saluki lurcher cross whippet bred small to run small snaggy land and killed hundreds of hares in her time pluss rabbits and the odd fox fast with bags of stamina, hope yours does you proud.
there was a program on tv about trail hounds, and a lady owner said they had used saluki whippet and greyhound in thair development, and to me you can see it in them, when you look closely.
when I was about 12 or 13 years old, I bred some coursing pups, and my old man talked me into selling him the one I kept back, he then swapped that with masarella the pigeon man from leistershire for some eggs, so nothing new I am afraid.
I was going to ask about them, I had one bred like that in the seventy's nothing to touch it, these will surprise a few folk I have no doubt might do the same with my bitch when she is done.
I had one like that she often brought chickens back, and one day she came home with a joint of beef, my old man rinsed it off in the sink and made a right fuss of the dog lol.
this hole was a putlog hole, I made it smaller because a bluetit nested while I was away, and as I point stone after building I had to point round it, my camera was to slow to get a shot lol
the cut bricks underneath are called a zip course it is coursed by the wall length not working bricks so you do that to avoid opening your perps two three quarters one course header on the next if you are not starting from scratch you cant alter the bond as I was toothing in to existing ends, on a reveal up a window (or on a corner ) when doing english garden wall bond you use a queen closer (quarter brick ) to avoid straight joints on your header course hope this helps, these hand made bricks are called ewerby yellows and are not very uniform in length, I suppose today most 9" work would stil
I took a sheet off an old plough I am going to stick on ebay, i then noticed the chickens after something, on inspection it was a big old toad he was ok, so I chucked him in the pond out the way, he soon went off on his way.
only one was taken straight off on its own and never grew back, in 50 years with coursing dogs I never had one even injure a toe other than that one and mabe the odd split pad and I ran some proper horrible land in my time.
