  1. ya cant beat a bit of old puss poached or otherwise lol.
  2. there are allot more efficient ways of controlling rabbits blacky aren't there, I have never caught a hundred with a dog but I did it ferreting loads of times.
  3. I did most things as a youngster, running dogs are just one tool in the box, but to me the most fun, I had a mongrel when I was a kid bit beagle bit terrier bit sumat else, on the mouch she would knock rabbits out all day and I bet at home time she would of caught as many if not more than the runners, and she would pick up at night as well, good company night fishing, I miss her she cost ten bob from a bloke int pub lol.
  4. three and a half weeks now
  5. saw someone climb that on the telly the other day.
  6. sounds alright might know some of em, done a fair bit round the yorks, notts, and Derbyshire borders.
  7. is it new, and does anyone know them, don't quite get the greyhound thing if your a poacher proper they no good to you at all, might be a good read though.
  8. I am sure it will master the scooter when its a bit older lol
  9. looks nice mate is she first cross?
  10. how does all this affect the pigeon guides who sell pigeon shooting to foreigners and others, in my view if its pest control, even as the licence was, they should not be allowed to sell it the one near me only wants the easy stuff, spring drilling etc, never puts a punter on the rape.
  11. I judged bull cross bitches at one show among other things, and got some rate looks for picking one that was a bit smashed up looking.
  12. I thin we been down this road before I think we better agree to disagree lol
  13. when plummer was on the go he used to condemn the use of saluki blood in anything, and that has stuck with the gullible for years, but I think people are realising the benefits now.
  14. that appeals to me more than a greyhound one (not that im'e kennel blind in any way you must understand)
  15. do you think or know, if the pointing trait comes through in the crosses.
  16. good post, if your working to the gun I would assume you keep them in shot or there abouts, as I would with my cockers, I know you get a bit of time to get in position while the dog is on point. perhaps a good description of just how these dogs work, and any traits to look for good or bad may be helpful for any one considering using one, in order to avoid using something on a whim, and ending up with the wrong cross, all the tried and tested stuff is well known and still mistakes are maid.
  17. that's a very nice looking dog mate is it a first cross? and katchum were the ones you saw the ones off the coursing dog?
  18. well that ends any debate thinking like that, its only opinions when all said and done, negatives, and positives, no point having a forum else.
  19. any purpose bred dog will have faults when you start branching out,and you live with them, like you say, if its hills round your way they hunting ,they were teaming with rabbits when I used to come up that way.
  20. that's the only place I see them beating anything else, and if you can see it happening through the bins be quite a show, otherwise no point, no pun intended my mates good pointer used to go on point, and he would sometimes have to go quite a way and flush whatever it was, it was a sheep one day caught in the brambles.
  21. I only ever saw two full gwps work one was a real good dog for finding game of all kinds, and took foxes a few times, the other was a fkn nightmare no recall and chase anything over the hills and far away lol, the more I think about obscure and unusual crosses the more I think its a damn lottery, and quite frankly a waist of time, there are plenty of traditional crosses that can do anything a gwp cross might do so why risk breading more crap.
