  1. so they also have lurcher types then, I wonder what gave them the rough coated ones.
  2. I haven't seen every dog run, which dogs style do you like that others may have seen run on video etc
  3. was you that said on another thread that we were not coursing we were killing, and double coursing was sport not killing, so just being sarcastic, lol
  4. is that a pyramidal orchid? the other night they were talking on telly about bea orchids not far from me as though they were nearly extinct I have them in my little meadow every year.
  5. i was not gong to comment, but I cant help it, we must remember that the double handed boys are not trying to catch one, just chase it, because they are proper sportsmen, and us single handed men are only interested in killing every thing that moves, I don't watch the clips any more cos they are crap, the heat don't matter if the dogs are watered proper, and their feet are good, when I was a lad I ran all year if I could find somewhere short, and dogs were ok, nowadays its to hot or to hard in September and October even if you wanted to have a run to risk the dog, yet they would I am sure co
  6. I met geof back in the day once or twice so did not know him well but seemed a nice chap rip.
  7. the young bitch I have out my last litter of cockers is always watching and seems to be able to tell if a bird will pick from a long way off, and when they hunting nose down they are very aware of stuff moving, if someone would breed me one off my old cocker dog I would give one a try lol.
  8. my first coursing bitch was off a pure saluki to a bitch exactly like that and she was supposed to be beddy lurcher. those little straw coloured lurchers used to abound when I was a boy.
  9. I saw two lab crosses both from the same litter, and both very different one light and fast the other cloddy but the cloddy one could catch a hare to be fair, he could hang on, I like the way my cockers hunt up and a dog that could run as well like you I would love to see.
  10. no one breed or strain stands out, just individual dogs, and there are to many ways of using a running dog for rabbits, that's why no one can agree, and why an ultimate rabbit dog does not exist, the safe option for what you want is a whippet, to many variables in cross breds, imho with coursing dogs one type started to stand out, selective breading did the rest, be great to do the same with rabbiters but as said to many variables.
  11. not quite but getting there ta.
  12. saw a few painted ladys the other day, they all seemed a bit pale though.
