    Had 4 Michelins put on the motor 3 days ago, what tread should a brand new tyre be ? as had it in vw for major service very next day and he reckons the tyres are 6mm and 30% worn? my understanding was a new tyre was 9mm. The colour chalk stuff was on the Michelins so they must of been brand new. either the tread depth readers wrong or the tyres was part worn “brand new” looking tyres ?
