Take it easy tjones i've had the odd 'accidental' bunny as most of us have, i'm talkin unscrupulous nomadic types...if u get me?!! My pal had his terrier taken last year! Went round a few local sites asking if it had been seen as he'd 'lost' it and it needed medication, then a couple days later it was found tied up outside the local rescue! Coinsidence? I'm not convinced!! Didnt mean to offend!

How were they stolen? Opportunist out of car, or from home? If its from home its prob planned and most likely local poachers!! No legit lurcherman would rob a dog (we'd hope)!! I'd keep an ear out for poaching goin on and take it from there. Hope the cnuts are found and burried!!

Dave Slight Dvd's. ..where Can I Get Them?
Leesy replied to Leesy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Cheers guys, seen them on youtube but the picture and sound quality is crap. I'd just like hard copies on dvd so i can watch on my tele instead of my phone or laptop. -
Eyup folks. I'm after Dave Slights DVD'S: Purdys Progress and Lurcher Field Craft. Can anyone point me in the right direction to buy them? Having a mare trying to find them!!

Reward based training all the way. I had this issue in the past with a col/whip dog I once had, around 14 months old he turned deaf when let off his lead. The way I sorted it was by using an acme whistle, a 25 meter rope, and plenty of treats in my pocket. Spend day conditioning the dog to the whistle by tooting it and giving a small treat. Repeat this so the dog starts to associate the whistle with a treat. Only do this for about a minute at a time, about 4 times throughout the day, and keep treats small but tastey (I used half finger nail sized pieces of cocktail saussage) In th

They are arses aren't they! Good job it's not calculated on a 'no claims bonus' like the motor! We'd all be screwed!! lol! The vet had a word with them and now they amended the policy and have only excluded his one leg so thats some thing the b*****ds have done that to me too, excluded all tendon/ligament injuries or conditions! that's [BANNED TEXT] comes of bein honest!! might see if my vet can have a word, or I might just go with argos as they have better cover for same price!

if you go to auctions you don't really know what you are getting. could be inbred or pet bred. its worth a gander though.

if you havnt got sorted there's a lad in doncaster with some kits ready soon. look for laddylurcher.

I agree vet prices are rediculous, and maybe the availability of dog/pet insurance has influenced this, but if paying a few quid a month saves me money and the life of my dog then I'm willing to pay it! If somebody would rather have a dead dog than have a chance at saving it that's up to them, but mine are good loyal companions as well as grafters, and I recon we owe them as much as we can give in return for their loyalty and hard work!! Plus my Mrs and kids would kill me me if I had my dogs put down before giving them a chance, and that's a good enough reason for me, ha ha!!

That's a good price, but it all depends on the level cover. I'm paying £16 a month for one dog with petplan. Their cover seems good and they pay directly to vets so you don't have to pay out then claim it back. They've been recommended to me by a couple of vets and a few people I know who use them. I just got the lowest level of cover, it will pay out £3000 per condition for 12 months treatment. I recon that's enough for me, but I have the option to upgrade if I want to.

(this is also in 'write-ups' but moved to here) I was out at 6 am on my usual morning walk with the dogs through the local nature reserve, taking my usual route down the river and through the woods, with the old girl 'Skye' at my side, as usual, and the sapling 'Tip' up ahead sniffing about chasing squirrels, as usual. The walk was just like any other, minus the rain for a change, and as luck would have it without my 6 month old daughter who is usually out with me taking in the fresh air and listening to the birds. All of a sudden'Tip' shot off up through the trees on hot pursuit

I've insured mine now...petplan £16 a month, and the besy thing is they pay out straight to your vet rather than u forking out and having to claim it back! didn't mention he was a worker but did mention the injury! wish I hadn't now after terryd's comment!! but heyho, lets see [BANNED TEXT] happens in the future!! Glad to hear your boy is doin ok jigsaw. like me, u won't know the extent until work starts! hopefully all will be good.
