  7. I have to agree 100% with Wilf"s posts on this topic. Tony
  8. Harry, sounds like a good Bitch to me.look at things from the Dog"s point of view.On the open Field there are less distractions for her hence, she comes back to you much easier. In the Woods though,Prey Drive kicks in and away she goes!!!She is responding to age old Instinct which is the core of her being or essence. You hold much less attraction for her in the Woods of course. I would try a few options. Not all may work but like anything, you keep changing the approach till you get the result you want. Run her with another Dog that will recall. Som
  9. Fish,as the Boys said go Raw. Tony
  10. Ditch,I have to agree with you wholeheartedly!!!!!!!Just because a Man has a Dog,does not make him a Dog Man. Firstly who knows but this Dog might have had to fight for his Tucker at his last residence, or he could have just been showing normal pack behaviour. One Dog keeping his Bone safe from the rest of the Pack. Dogs of course are a pack Animal and bring Pack dynamics to the relationship with Humans.I would be having a look at your management and Leadership of this Dog.You need to bring change in the Pack order so the Dog knows the Son has a higher place. I would n
  11. Alix, what happens if you run an older dog with her that has good recall? Tony
  12. Molly, for the spots try a Nappy Rash creme from the Chemist. Tony
  13. Dox, I hope you do not insult anybody near you as they may take affence!!!!! Tony
  14. Skycat, good post and sadly that scenario happens way too much. Tony
  15. Blue Coyote I come from the same Farming Background as you but in Australia. I see where your coming from and agree.Blue, when I was a kid my Grandfather said to me that if I ever came home with a dog that could not work,he would kick my Ar-e!!!!. Yes many Breeds have been dumbed down or nearly ruined due to being bred soley for the Showring and never worked or tested.Breeders carry on about Breed Standards but a breed Standard only goes some of the way.A breed Standard is basically only concerned with Appearance.A Breed Standard does not test or show has this Dog got a he
  16. Molly,it seems funny the positioning. As you said as far as position goes its a Mirror image.I am wondering if the Dog is getting underneath something and rubbing her back and whatever she is making contact with is setting things off? Tony
  17. ok I will stick my hand up for a American bulldog running dog cross. For Pigs i will nominate Bulldog Heeler cross. Tony
  18. boys as Simonman says simply let defrost!!!! tony
  19. Brother Fox,I do not know where you got that info from but way off the track!!!!We still use heelers all the time. We have two Breeds one the longtailed Heeler and the Stumpy tailed Heeler. The fair dinkum Heeler is tough,Tenacious and smart. The Dogs we use come from lines that go well back and have never and will never see a Show ring!!!!{Thank God for that} Heelers have been used crossed with Bull Terriers, danes,Staffys,Greyhounds and others. One exceptional Dog belonging to a Mate was a Bulldog- heeler x.Top dog would work Sheep, cattle, guard and catch a Pig
  20. I reckon the Boerboel would be a top lugger.Possibly as a purebred might be a bit slower over the distance.I reckon a Boerboel x Staghound would be a handy Dog. Tony
  21. Squirelltail is right on the Money. Tony
  22. That story has been doing the rounds for a while.Hopefully they know what lines carry the Mutative Genes and do not let it get too far. Tony
