I have a 3/8 bull/1/8 saluki/ 1/2 hound bitch pup coming my way. Parents are top dogs and hoping the pup is as well. Will be pushing covers and out on the lamp once or twice a week in the season. Will let ye know how things are in 2 years time!

Depends on the breeding of the dog as to when you should run it - typically Wheaton/Bull crosses can be run a bit younger than a collie cross (dh pups takes a lot longer to mature). The longer you give a pup to mature the better IMO. I would double up for the first few runs as the young dog can learn a lot from running with an experienced dog (hitting the ditch after the quarry). I would bring a pup out a good number of times lamping before ever slipping them.

Your keeping wheatons 70 years as in several decades?If there has been pitbull or english added there not wheatons, there wheaton xs. @stop.end .... 'several' doesn't mean 7

@shaneg We hunt foot beagles to push covers and to hunt - 15/20 for hunting and 2/3 when pushing covers. They work a treat for both....maybe worth considering!

When you charge 500 for a pup and three times that for a working adult you can make some coin alright.
-
You obviously haven't seen a 'class of pack' if they can't put foxes to ground.
-
Sure its only useless foxes that beagles put to ground how could they be too fast for lurchers when bolted

Ya fat man all the lads I know in kerry call their dogs beagles but to me they are harriers. They are not the black and tan kerry beagles either.

I was in Alaska 2 weeks back - caught a 25lb king Salmon Had it on the bucket list for a long time. Not sure a lurcher would get much hunting though - lots of Moose, Bear and Wolves

I would whip that pup up if it was only later! I am in Canada and not home til end of July. Will be filling up my kennels the week im back. Fine pups lad.

Trumpis changing the immigration policies to help good folks and inhibit muzzies and other ethnic groups from taking advantage of the USA. You'll soon find it a lot easier to come here. Anyhow, all you have to do is marry one of the tens of thousands of desperate ladies trolling around on FB for a Sugar Daddy. Unfortunately not Dan. I have studied immigration in the US from a neutral point of view (wrote a 20,000 word thesis on it) and worked in an immigration center in Boston. He is not doing any favors for anyone! Good or bad. Give him a little time, he's just finished his fi

I have lived and hunted in the US, from Ireland and I am now in Canada. For dog work you can' beat home. Also - how do recommend people make the move? Your prick of a president doesn't make it easy for people to move to the 'land of the free' - a nation built by immigrants, for immigrants... my hole. Rifle, Bow hunting and a lot of the fishing is hard to beat in North america.

I have had both and I prefer bitches. A dog can be very stubborn and a c<^t to break out when a bitch is in heat around the place. I found bitches easier to train, start working from an earlier age and are more loyal. One thing though is you can give a dog a belt if he is acting the bollix, scraping with other dogs etc. Give a bitch a belt and she will never forget it!!

Well lad how did the pup work for you?

@King nice looking bitch

3 years coming, 3 years with ya and 3 years going. So between 3 and 6 would be in their prime.
