  1. The scope rail is actually easy to remove. I stood the cylinder up on the rear end and with a block of wood and hammer i knocked it down and it comes off. Figured out how to put trigger together the first lightning sorted it and polished everything up put back together fired about 10 or pellets and wow i cant believe how nice and smooth it is to shoot started on the second one took piston out rang my gunsmith as i noticed that in the first lightning only had 1 piston weight and the second had four and wanderd why and turns out it more then likely was a 177 and some one put a 22 barrel so put
  2. Hi Guys and Girls, I'm having a problem tracking down a replacement bulb for my Deben Tracer Atom, even Deben doesn't have any in stock, Does anyone know of a stockist who has some as I'm drawing a blank on Google search although if I could find a 55mm Halagon reflector 6v 10w bulb I could probably re-solder the connector wires on though the only type showing up seem to be 35mm. Any help will be really appreciated.
  3. if it's any consolation I use my rack sack that i use when out and about to rest my hand on, accuracy is far better than using a bi-pod when static shooting. also gives me the advantage of not carrying around a shooting cushion as well
  4. well now that the police force has a national database set up and that you were honest enough about the driving conviction they will have to find a damn good reason not to grant the certificate. Just as well they didn't ask the same question to me as I would have turned round and answered that I am more trustworthy than the firearms instructor that shot a call centre colleague in the stomach when demonstrating a cylinder pistol with 'dummy' rounds in Oxfordshire.Who on earth would keep live and dummy rounds in a quality street tin anyway. Beggars belief. Any way here's hoping you're succe
  5. Sounds similar to the memories I have when shooting with my Webley Omega when staying at my Grandparents at Higham, I remember Shorne fort and the marshes with a smile on my face and the good times (rabbit and apple casserole for evening tea with apples from the local orchards) unfortunately i can't remember the local village bobby who just used to clip you round the ear before taking you home.
  6. Thanks Guys much appreciated for the welcome.
  7. I know what you mean about the restrictions, I can usually get between 1-2 hours during the winter but up to 6 hours in the summer on a saturday afternoon running up to dusk. Still got to watch for the guys finishing work and walking back to their cars, Mind you all them know my ugly mug anyway.
  8. This may help you out as i used it to find two clubs close by I didn't even know existed http://www.gun-club.net/clubs Happy hunting
  9. I'm thinking about about buying a laser to attach to the sight of my TX200 HC .22 to help range estimation, What recommendations do members have and is it worthwhile? Any comments gratefully appreciated
  10. Never a truer word said, using the principles above (except I USED to hold my breath) i was a slightly better than average shot, now I'm more than comfortable at standing supported covering a 5 shot group with a 5 pence piece at 25m with my TX 200 HC .22 using RWS super H point pellets. Still got to get to find somewhere to get to 50 or 60m to try to see how small the group is. Brilliant post Simon, it will undoubtedly help people to become better.
  11. And in between me downloading, amending the document and posting this I have just had permission on a 20 acre site. You're the man Davy.
  12. Thanks for the info Andy, looking at the diagram I had a horrible feeling i was going to have to knock out the sight rail, looks like worst fears confirmed. By the way in my previous post it should have been the Air Rifle Shop (Wakefield) and not Air rifle company.
  13. I am currently putting a new spring kit into my mates lightning and having some problem getting the piston out, do you know of a reason why it's stopping to the rear and going no further as the sear and trigger has already been removed. If you go to air rifle company's website they have the manual on a BSA Lightning that can be downloaded (unfortunately I couldn't attach it to the post) which may help out with your trigger All the best Tim
  14. Davy, muchos gracias for the download, this will help immensely, Le the mailing commence !!!!
  15. Extremely good read, at least it will keep the boss happy if not the guys in security for free food, nice going
  16. Like yourself, after paying for an external contractor coming in and supplying unsatisfactory results I got permission and the company to purchase a TX200 Mk3, scope and lamping equipment to cater for the ferals both outside and inside the premises. Luckily I am the H&S Manager so I was deemed competent to create both the risk assessment and Method statement, I was also in a position to negotiate with one of the national pest control companies to attend their air rifle marksman course with another employee, which incorporates the legislation and methods of dispatch and carcass destruction
  17. Good afternoon one and all, I've been following Si and Davey on you tube so after all the good videos posted of various HL members I decided to join myself, Looking forward to the various topics and tips in the future, all the best. Keep safe, shoot straight.
