Ouch that's worse than having your zero knocked out!!!! mind you you've got it sorted out now though If i read one of your other posts correctly.

Yup sounds like a sound investment, thing that bothers me was that i used to be good at judging distance in my full bore target years, Must be old age, not so much creeping up but ran up and hit me over the head with a baseball bat. Oh well, looking at a new gun club this week so that may help out as well. Might look at a better scope while I'm at it if the funds become available.
-
Looks like a few worthwhile hours and dinner as an added bonus, sweet head shot on the rabbit. Did Vis not have any luck with his new scopes?
-
Well done mate, you had a lot better luck than I did tonight, at least one of us is doing something right
-
Well done mate, 3 less Corvids to plaque our green and pleasant land.

After check zeroing the rifle i gave the owner a quick text and went to the new permission (first field) nothing moving except a couple of Roe deer just grazing in the tree line and a stag bellowing somewhere behind me, so off I went to field two. Managed to spot a rabbit in the middle of the field an using a corpse of trees away from the edge I managed to get fairly close. Rabbit has hankered down but a clear head shot, got the hold over, 25m easy shot, squeezed the trigger and wallop, hit the dirt right in front of it. Bloody thing was at 20m so not enough holdover. Just as light was

The All New Hawke Airmax 30 Sf Air Rifle Scope
Darkie69 replied to Mawders's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Best looking ret I've seen by far, love the way you can see through what would normal be the solid ends of the cross hairs, what's the damage for buying one at the moment. it looks like a work of art. you'll have to let us know how you got on. -
Wasn't around quite that far back but mixy was still around in the mid to late 80's, it's one of those things that once you see it, you won't forget it
-
Shep you are so right, I remember rabbits stumbling around 1/2 blind with eyes bulging out on some, I felt that bad I just went up and chopped them across the back of the nick to end the suffering. if Mixy can take them out there is little chance that the entire hunting life members going out could achieve that, One of my perms has a problem with ferals, the last pest control guy got the boot for what could be classed as a piss poor job apart from putting holes into the owners cladding (nice one), I don't think he knew what a back stop was for apart from something he could lean agains

Is the club still going as I may have an interested party from the central belt? Please PM me if possible. regards Darkie

damn good read made me laugh in places (gutting the rabbit), So what's Vislauk's new gutting technique or is it a case 'I could tell you but then I'd have to kill ya'

It depends on the type of rifle you are using, PCP great, springers, unless you are shooting from the prone with a real good bipod all the time, it's a waste of time as your recoil bounces the rifle and your point of aim will be different in other positions. I'm sure other people have experienced similar through trial and testing, Davyt and simon and other HFT shooters I think would agree.

I've always worked on the principle of two decent Grey Squizzers = 1 medium Rabbit. Darkie

If it's any consolation I have put a link for all up to date UK licences by country on the BASC web page on the general licenses post as the post seemed to be out of date. hope it helps Darkie

If you want a bit of variety go to www.beartoothbullets.com where they have a number of target downloads including a rabbit and Sergei (simples) htmhttp://www.beartoothbullets.com/misc/targets.htm I use the rabbit one to practice head shots at various ranges. Have fun

Crystal clear picture and a lovely shot to the brain, can't get any better than that, well done mate.

Replacement Bulb For Tracer Atom
Darkie69 replied to Darkie69's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Davy, you are a star as always, thanks for the additional Youtube clip and link. Much appreciated -
Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone can help here. I have searching for a Deben Tracer Atom bulb (10w Halogen 6v) which is a 55mm reflector bulb with BC fittings (though the fittings are not imperative as I can solder the existing connector leads to the new bulb) without any success, even Deben do not currently have bulbs in stock. If anyone knows of a gun shop or store that fits the description please PM me or reply to this post. it will be most appreciated.

Not sure if this is the type of switch you were looking for but if it isn't they might be able to help you out. http://www.dauntseyguns.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=LR3406 best of luck

Just to update the post, the licences for the regions for 2014 can be found by going to the BASC link below https://basc.org.uk/shooting/general-licences/

Well this seems to be heated debate aimed at individuals which could have been handled better through PM rather than a public forum Lets put his to bed once and for all (for my part anyway) Considering where I live (which isn't a town) and I never claimed to be an expert with pest control. Yes I shot at at a woodie in my garden and yes the damn thing was trying to eat the seeds and seedlings recently planted. Using scarecrows don't work as they use them as a perch before going to the ground after a while and I have yet to know anyone who has had a woodie going into a Larson trap.
-
Unfortunately i will disagree with you there as i do abide by the law and completed a pest control course, The general licence in Scotland does not differ greatly from that in England but I do know what I can and cannot shoot. http://www.snh.gov.uk/protecting-scotlands-nature/species-licensing/bird-licensing/health-and-safety/ for my permissions and I believe this is the Scottish equivalent of what you are referring to.http://www.snh.gov.uk/docs/B878312.pdf. regards
-
For me it's a clear case it was shot for food on private property and not plinking some random unidentified bird that just happened to be in a tree, If the woody in my garden hadn't have ducked as I squeezed the trigger I would have had a woodie myself for tea tonight. By the way did the window surround live? Good shooting score one for the pot.
