Its the same with trialing sheepdogs there that highlly tuned that after one trial they are exausted and there edge is gone. When ive spoke to the guys who are into it they say its because the dog is thinking that much its very mentally tireing. One thing that ive found with the trialing dogs is they get over heated extremelly fast and i know people who have lost dogs by not getting them cooled down fast enough when working them hard away from water Ive worked along side trialing dogs as well as owning them myself when it comes to a full day of dog work they cant cope and have to be rested

Im guilty of that my grandad and dad use to go mad at me when i was a kid for stealing a couple of there sheepdogs to go mooching/ferreting with. They were keen as mustard once they had been a couple times and knew what was going on. I still do it with my sheepdogs and it is slightly imbarrasing when im working for some one and something pops up and my dogs take off in hot pursuit. Luckilly they always take it well and just laugh and say why havent you got the lurcher with you today.

I havent had a drink for over 2 years now i cant remember why i stopped in the first place. i cant stand people when there drunk i just find it cringy especially when someone will come over after they've had a few acting as if there your best mate but when you see them through the week they wont even wave. The only downside is im always the designated driver.

Amazing that is. There was an fella who use to live down the road from the village i grew up in who worked away from home of shore for months on end and he had a stafforshire bull terrier. While he was away at work his dog would stay at the nearby farm and they would look after it. Well they didnt really have to it would spend its time trailing about you would see it in the most random places. But some how it would know when he was coming home. His first point of call when coming home would be the village pub and every time he got to the pub after being away for months the dog would

You'll need to build up your saddle tolerance. Me and the missus when cycling up whinlatter for 3 hours before lambing time and jesus my arse was sore the next day. I think i will stick to the running and walking from now on.

Rabbits are getting scarce in parts of the uk now, uk is not that big a place in all honesty. We are tripping over them round here it's hard going finding a place to take the terriers where they can't hunt them.as I don't keep lurchers any more for summer fun I have to get friends over with their runners to bash a few I feel your pain it must be hard to leave the house lol ?
-
To let things breed up over the summer, it isnt law its just a general rule for most. But a few people will go out all year round.
-
Really ? Why keep them then ? Would it not be better to keep something else / not bother ? Because if a ewe is feeding the lamb its self it doesnt cost me anything but if the ewe dies or she wont take it or i havent got a single ewe to put the lamb to i have to buy lamb milk powder to feed the lamb or lambs 4 or 5 times a day and lamb milk is very expensive you only want to use it to keep them going until you can put them to a ewe. It can get pretty costlly when your feeding 10 pet lambs all the way into june.

Rotty are smart dogs,I haven't ruled out having another one when kids are older,we had ours for 7years. Ive never owned a pure myself but from what ive seen of them there as trainable as any other dog. The sire to my bitch was the rotty and he would pick up birds, i got her from a gamekeeper i know. I was told the sire would do his bit around a hole, never seen it personally but it doesnt matter to me either way.

Probally a .25 if there big rats. -
Rotweiller x springer She's never going to catch a bolting rabbit but she's a sound marker and 9 times out of 10 she will know witch hole its coming out of. If i could have a lurcher with her brains i think i would be onto a winner.

You wont need to buy them most farmers will give you them for free as they cost more to keep than there worth. I would give you one but im in cumbria so not much use really.
-
Was that a collie x or pure collie skycat? I clip out some of my sheepdogs every summer and they always grow back the same.
-
Ive seen that first pic before im sure the CMW did a write up about him a couple years ago. It was a good read. My grandad had a pet fox when he was a lad. He said it was never really tame they had it on a wire in the garden that it would run up and down on but it eventually met its maker when he had it on the garden table giving it a stroke and it bit him and his reaction was to give it a wack and it fell off the table to the waiting terriers unfortunatlly.

Pablo asked tommy to many questions i think lol.

Start farming sheep and you will soon forget about that by the time youve lambed them reared them and fattened them your usualy pretty glad to see the back of them. This is just the begining.

I know a guy who keeps all his dogs like that but he uses them 55 gallon plastoc drums.
