There not all mine theres a usually a couple of us go im a sheperd so i go around diffrent farms to gather for so im always working along side other sheperds and dogs. On average we'll have about 20 dogs between us i take 5 or 6 depending if im training a dog. If you look at the 10th pic i have 2 dogs on a couple i keep them coupled until we have the sheep in a group and driving them home so there still fresh. I can work 3 of my dogs independantly at the same time, so for instance if i have got one dog past some sheep and im fetching them down a place were i know they will try to get away

Mate of mine has a "swazi" smock not sure on the model he rates it highly. He says the ridgeline jackets are rubbish in comparison. There a bit pricey though.

He looks quiet a heavy built sort of a lad chicken man. Where did you get him from? A fell farmer i know well has a very nice line of fell curs they arent far looks wise from what a collie x looks like they are incredibly leggy dogs there not much shorter than my lurcher whose 25tts. For all i know there could be some sort of outcross way back but he would never let on if there was. Bred him myself mate. Had both parents, which both worked. His father would put a bull up a tree ? Sadly missed are both. The mother was a lovely mover, very flowing if you know what I mean, good on sheep, -

In that case i would lean more towards the fell curs, as ive found them to be a much harder tempermant than the eye dog type in general, obviously there will be exceptions. Out of my dogs i would choose to use this dog (the black and white one) he was probably the easiest dog ive had to train he just soaks up information like a sponge and can think on his feet. I had a litter of pups getting by him last april and they are turning out to be usefull dogs as of now there only 18 month so time will tell but im pleased with how they are going. -

This should be intresting i keep a few sheepdogs of various types myself and ive always wondered what type do people favour to use in a lurcher breeding. To me i would think my fell type curs would be better than the eye/trialing type as there more leggy and upright with a up and at them attitude compared to the others that will creep and stalk low to the ground. -
Whats the diffrence between a paddock kelpie and a yard kelpie...? A paddock type kelpie tends to work with greater distance from the sheep and have a wider natural cast whereas the yard type are up close and often noisier. The latter are used for pushing sheep around for dipping, clipping etc and are the ones you see backing. They also have separate trials for the two traits and a dog which does both equally well is a bit of a holy grail. Hope that makes sense. To Silversnake: my pup has a fair bit of Karrawarra in him via both Boanong and Karana blood and they tend to be better paddock t

Had the whippet pup doing a bit of stock training this afternoon. The missus has been complaning that he trys to savage her orphan lambs when she goes to feed them, and she doesnt know what to do. I have explained to her what she needs to do but as most of us know if you need something doing right, do it yourself. First meeting he did want to have a bit of a nibble but with a correction he settled him self down. It helps a lot with the lambs being hand reared there not flighty or scared of dogs for the most part so they dont excite him by running around. Had him in among them af
