Just Got A Crosman
RemyBolt replied to Lancashire Hunter's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Looks very military styled. Will be good to see how things come along with it. -
Last weekend I was extra nice to my wife and cleaned out all the animals (we have 19, so that's no small effort). This weekend I was rewarded with a new air rifle. I opted for the Gamo Varmint Stalker .177 as I want a nice punchy springer. So far I'm really impressed with it. What experiences, if any, have you had with this rifle?

To be controversial...I think it's real. What you fail to miss is the other side of the paper is the target, and all 3 shots were off centre by an inch each time! haha, I'm kidding. Just thought I'd put it out there for a bit of fun. Probably real. I've seen people that are able to shoot 3 shots through a wedding ring, so it's definitely possible.

It looks good mate. At the risk of being sacrilegious...are you going to go for a bipod?

Today I woke up to a grumpy wife, and work is doing my head in!!! ARGH!!! I need to get out of here!!! I get a text..."Rats everywhere. We've cleared out one of the 'Houses' and the rats have taken over" For the farm, this is referred to as a really bad thing. For me...happy days!!! I get to pop up and out, straight after work, for 3 hours of ratting! Time away from the wife and away from the stresses of work. Big smiles all round! When you're having a bad day, is there anything better than getting up and out and popping some shots?

What kind of pricing would we be looking at for a first time night vision set up?

JEALOUS!!! Nice shot. Are you going to do a quick cooking review, Steven Rinella style?

OH, forgot to mention why I was posting at 2am!!! I got changed at the site then went home. I got home, took my 'chicken trousers' out of a bag and lay them in the front garden, along with my shoes. I boiled the kettle 5 times in total, and poured the boiling water over the trousers and shoes to clear it all off and to make a foot bath to scrub myself clean. Thankfully the wife was staying over night in Oxford. The trousers had to come out of the washing machine and up to dry. The wife is a veggie, so I'm not meant to hunt. She knows that I do, but doesn't want to hear or see anyth

PIL, what are you doing awake and reading my drivel at that time of day? I was going to pop back on, nice and early, and finish the story. Which is what I'm about to do now. Continued... Okay, so far you can tell things have not gone too well for me. I've never had a really bad day before, so I've not had much to deal with in regard to what to do with this kind of day. We go back to the truck, laugh at my great unsuccess, and just chat a little before heading over to House 4. So here I am, stinking like chicken turd, chicken pee, and squelching with every step I take. There i

Well, it's about 2am, and I'm back posting about my ratting earlier on. Have you ever posted anything that you later think "Wow, that was stupid of me! I really shouldn't have posted that on a public forum!!!"? Ever had that? Well I think this is going to be one of those posts. So far, I've never had a 'bad day' out. I've had off days, and 'not as good as last time' days. But I've never had a day that I thought "DAMN, that was some messed up outing!!!!" That was, until just now. As I said, it's around 2am, and I'm pumped on caffeine, so this might not make huge sense. I hope it doe

Hello everyone. I know it's pathetic, and a kids toy, but I love my little Crossman Rat Catcher. The thing I hate is that the scope is easily knocked and put off straight. I can get as much as a 3mm knock of the brackets at the front, and an additional 3mm of knock at the back bracket. Meaning my scope is lined off by a good few degrees. Shots at a short range are not too bad, but slightly longer shots can go well off centre! Anyone found a way to remedy this? I've looked at getting the steel top section, because that's got the rail grooves already in place. But I want to know

Whats The Most Common Phrase You Hear.............
RemyBolt replied to squab's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
"Look, miniture greyhounds." (we don't hunt with our dogs but we have 2 whippets and 1 whippet x Italian greyhound....he's a total handbag dog!) Adults usually come out with this one. Kids just ask what kind of dogs they are. "Do you race them?" - Retard question! If I did I'd be a hell of a lot richer than I am. "Do you hunt with them?" - We have 19 animals in total, so they would just run over to a rabbit and lick it. "It's all weak. My staffie could kill it, easy." - Retarded statement! My response "Urm, your dog is being humped by my dogs. (under my breath...what a fierce beast -
Is this sold yet? Also, if you're okay to post it, please let me know.

Can you believe it? This is like a birthday! The wife is away again, so I can pop out and do some ratting this weekend! Not had time to work out how to get a camera to my scope, so I'll just be getting a few site photos, and the aftermath. Well excited. Any recommendations for bait? I'll be doing an all day out there, so bait is ideal for in the day.

I'll try and get some pics next time. Finances allowing, I'll get some vids too. I think I'll be out there again every other weekend. Don't want the rats getting too used to the sound of guns.

Be prepared for a long winded story. Hope it's entertaining for you. Well, yesterday was my first secret from my wife. She is a veggie and I'm a fan of burgers, steak, chicken breast, venison, and going out to get it myself! So yesterday, I was being chauffeured around a chicken farm, getting to know the lay of the land, learn the house (it's a barn, but they call it a house) numbers and which need the most work. It was a beasty Ford truck, and the land was pretty 'rugged', so please don't think I'm one of those hunters that is literally chauffeured around. I'm not that rich.....yet haha.

Full write up coming. Quick review, 10 definites, with 6 90% certs! Happy hunting. Only quick because the veggie wife is in the bathroom.

Yeah, I'm out ratting tomorrow for the weekend. Shooting down a friend's chicken farm. I'll try and take some good pictures for everyone to laugh at my bad shooting. Just letting everyone know.

Personally, I am a massive fan of a .22 when out ratting, but if I'm going for rabbits, I'm more of a .177 guy. Is there any real difference? Everyone will give their opinions and experiences. All of which are valid as they apply to that individual's circumstances. If you're looking for something to buy, check what you're going to be doing with it, and what you'll be shooting. Better still, get yourself out with some friends and use their stuff first. I prefer a pistol-grip, so my .22 is a Ratcatcher (I'm off ratting tomorrow with it) which I highly recommend for rats and pigeons.

Sgc And Fac Licensing Question
RemyBolt replied to RemyBolt's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Nice one. Thank you for the help everyone. -
Hello, I'm about to send off my paperwork, but then thought, should I apply for one, then the other, or would I be okay to post for both at the same time. The firearms will be used for rats, rabbits, foxes, pigeons, and clay pigeons. Looking to get a 10/22 and an 870. Should I apply for one then the other, or both at the same time? If one then the other, which should I apply for first? Thank you in advance for the help.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Where to start....? I have a passion (some may say obsession, but that's not a strong enough word, according to my wife...more on her later) for the outside and living outdoors. After much debate and even more heated debate, the natural progression from year of learning to track animals has come into conversation with my wife. That's right, we've broken ground about hunting. It's basically what I am already doing, but with a bang at the end and a meaty meal. Well, back to the wife. The reason for the honourable mention she receives...she's a vegetarian. I know, nobody's perfect,
