Antis Out In Gloucestershire Tonight
RemyBolt replied to Matthew Phillips's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Most of what I was going to say has already been said. Even if nothing happens, contact the police. It needs to go on record. Secondly, get something like a Veho Muvi or other action cam. This is for up close video stuff, like if they get in your face. Secondly, a small hand digi cam, to record your vehicles before you disappear off, but also to record the people recording you. Evidence for the police. If you say they looked interested in egg collecting or nest disturbing....well that's a major no-no! One of the local land owners did say it's illegal to use a footpath as anything other -
I'm currently unwell, but am also on a week off work. Obviously I plan to get in some hunting. Only issue. I have a beastly, but unpredictable cough. I might be fine for hours, then suddenly I'm coughing so hard I nearly pass out. I tried Covornia, but coughed so much it came back up...like jelly! No joke, like throwing up a jellyfish that just sat there and wobbled on the floor as a gelatinous entity! It was properly minging! Should I go out and try to bag me a couple of rabbits? Or, what good cures for coughing do you guys have?

Wow, 101 pages. Being a Christian I was going to read through all of this when I saw the title. I am always up for a debate and am fascinated by all data, both for and against. But I thought, maybe I can keep up by reading pages 100 and 101. Turns out....I can't. What it looks like is that someone has changed conversation to universal measurements of space. But in 100 pages, a topic is probably going to drift, at least a little. Anyone want to summarise for me?

I am not really a football guy at all, but down the hardware store today they were chatting about it. This is the basis of what they were saying: Team ranked number 8, vs team ranked 20th (that's us in 20th) Switzerland/Sweden (I can't remember which they said we were playing) are playing well. England playing...poorly, according to the hardware store guys. Overall prediction, not too positive.

I have mixed feelings about this. 1. We know whose the killer. Congratulations. Well done us. 2. We know whose the killer. Well punishment will be...un-severe. Banished to death....oh wait..... 3. Is DNA on one murder victim evidence enough that it was the same person that killed the others? 4. There are similarities to the whole Jack the Ripper murders, but no actual evidence to link them to the same person. 5. Jack the Ripper was interesting because we didn't know who he was. Harold Shipman killed ten times more people, but we know who he is. Mystery Murders become romant

Anyone Any Good With Crosman 1377
RemyBolt replied to jack-percival's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Is the air coming out the barrel, out the cylinder (pump tube), out around the trigger, or what? Just reread the post. When you say out the barrel, I assume you mean the front of the barrel, where the pellet is meant to come out? The simplest test is to completely redo all the seals. Springer Power Help
RemyBolt replied to one-in-the-net's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Oh. Okay. Thanks. I just think so many people just want more and more power, but they're only range shooting. Had a friend from work say he wanted to try ratting. I've known him a while and invited him along. I can't remember what gun it was but he said it was punching out just below 12ft/lbs. Needless to say he wasn't going to be popping pellets around £40'000 machinery. One stray shot or ricochet....no thanks. -
Springer Power Help
RemyBolt replied to one-in-the-net's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
A really quick question, what is it you're shooting? Currently I am using 2 different guns for 2 different situations, and I've just modded one (only a scope change) because I plan to change my style a bit. The reason for 2 guns, 2 different situations, 2 different quarry's. I have a much lower powered CO2 rifle for ratting. When ratting I'm usually indoors, so a lower powered rifle it paramount! For the longer shots, I wanted a different calibre, and to concentrate on a different kind of shooting/hunting. So I went for a higher powered springer. If I was a more highly skilled shoo -
Just read that a few people enjoyed my last write up and my clear inability to use a camera. Thanks for the cool input lads. Wish I had taken pics of this session, but at the same time...glad I didn't. Well, pictures wouldn't really have worked out anyway. I'll explain why later. A camcorder maybe. But not pics. For those checking the time, it's currently around 4am. Today's ratting started...late. I was meant to go around with the farmer as usual, but he was in the local pub. Handed over the keys to the barns (the farmer call them houses) and he bought me a lemonade (I don't drink). Next th

Still Looking For Someone To Take My Dead Pigeons.
RemyBolt replied to engraver's topic in Pigeon Shooting & Decoying
If you're totally stuck, you could always learn to cook them yourself? -
Just saw this and thought....DAMN RIGHT!!!! http://www.pinterest.com/pin/386183736769726334/

The photos suck! Got a couple of other rats that I've shot, but they are from the week before. Some have been chewed by rats, others just looked raggedy and crap. Not sure they'd be good to upload.

BASC website just answered that question. They're open game to shoot year round.

What's the rules with Grey Squirrels? Are they open like Rabbits and Rats?

Just get a cheap digital camera and rip out the IR filter. That's what I've done. I now have about 5 or 6 IR ready cameras. One I have mounted with a scope-cam bracket, the others I use with an IR torch, as spotting systems. Really happy with the outcomes. Short range shooting, but stronger IR illumination and I'd probably be able to shoot out to a longer range...as long as I was using my springer and not my ratter.

Are you serious?!?! I've been working it hard and got around 9 permission now. NONE of them have volumes like this!!! I'm so jealous! If you don't have some amazing write-ups on this, I'm going to cry!!! On the second picture, it looks like there is a stile over the fence and a hell of a public foot path. The only place I have rabbits even close to this is along a fricking public foot path, so I don't dare touch it.

I was expecting to see Ultra and HW100 in that list. I have no experience with HW100, but the Ultra was a really good rifle. I had an Ultra for a while. At the time it was not what I wanted, so sold it. I am slightly regretting that decision, to be fair. But having too much fun to dwell on that. Personally, I'd decide what I wanted to go for. Is it the fieldcraft skill element? High volume kills? Is it targets? Is it Live Quarry? Ratting? Rabbits? Indoors (e.g. ratting)? Outdoors (e.g. rabbits)? Professional Pest Control? Just a bit of fun? Or what? Then I'd work my gun choice around t

I love all phases of the moon. For ratting if you're outside shooting the edged of the building, or into it, full moon will screw you right up. I've laid out before shooting into an open barn, and bagged a total of 3, when I was expecting at least 15-20. If I had sat in a shadow, instead of prone on the floor, would have been much better. But they can see me before I could see them. Same as in winter. There are a load of hey bails that the rats tend to house-up in during the winter. You can wrap up warm and shoot out of your car at these times. But in full moon, you'll shoot nothing. A

I've got some of those animal shaped spinners at different ranges in the garden. Really satisfying when you hit them and watch them spin, coupled with that cool TINK* plinking sound. Not so satisfying when you hear a plant pot smashing as a pellet goes wide of the target.

Paying Fees For Airgun Hunting On Farms
RemyBolt replied to carlo5983's topic in General Airgun Discussion
If you want to help me put up a new face, I'll let you pay me £20 to do it. I'm kidding. To be fair, if people are having it open for so many others to shoot, it's unlikely to have much stuff to shoot, unless it's metal and spins, or is paper and covered in numbers. If the holiday cottages are nice enough, then go for a few days holiday and take your rifle. Enjoy a holiday, at the evenings, keep the eyes open, and hope for the best. -
FINALLY!!! This was going to be done a while back, but I could not find my cable to upload the photos to the computer!!! No point having a write up without back-up. I was out the other weekend with gun and camera...Oh my goodness it's hard to get good photos in the dark down small tunnels and the alike! All photos were taken at the end of the shooting when I was showing the farmer the rats I had taken out. I've added coloured arrows here and there to point out the things I'm talking about. Well, before the pics come out, I'll do my lovely write-up. Might well intersperce photos into th

On my way out again tonight. Guess what I'm taking...CAMERA!!!! Next write up will include pics. I'll get a load of the last session's rats as well, if they've not been cleared up yet.

The best bit is where there's a photo down the scope! The barrel looks like it's 2 meter's long!!! HAHAHAHAHA

Harsh. As you said, silver-lining.

We've all had those sessions. I had about 3 or 4 write ups where I was after just this one rabbit that kept evading me. But I look back and think...damn it was good being out in the fresh air.
