Took The Kelpie Cross Up A Mountain
Silversnake replied to Bo Duke's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Looks like a fun day out, what is the mix in your kelpie x, and how does he perform? The reason I ask is I plan to use kelpie in my lurchers in future and I am interested to hear about people's experience with the type. Nice looking animal too. -
If id have travelled that far to see timid un-reponsive pups id have made the return journey without one,a few minutes before i tore a strip of the breeder. There is a good chance the pup will flourish under different conditions and hopefully that was the outcome,id not take the chance.Over here we possibly have a better choice and can be less discerning with our choices, litter A is bollocks so we visit litter B or C,2,oookm,to see a litter like that,id be steaming to drive tuther side of town for that opportunity. I agree with you totally and I would do the same if I was spoilt for choice with

There is no way anyone can take credit away from McGregor, he could have justifiably refused to fight mendes, I can only imagine how much of a distraction the whole circus would have been for him but he acted as if there was nothing that could stop him and so far nothing has... No doubt mendes would have preferred a full camp just as McGregor would have preferred no late change of opponent.at the end of the day the better man won.

The Spanish inquisition did the job, anything less is a waste of time and is only delaying the inevitable total and crushing annihilation of one side or the other. It is a shame history has to repeat and we cannot advance....

I hope somehow we can all sort our sh#t out one day. For people to say British are paranoid or wrong to talk about blacks Pakistanis etc etc is insanity, at the end of the day it is Britain so how laws and favour is not on the side of the British is beyond me. I am not racist and I believe in a fair go for anyone but I can't believe how misinformed, biased, manipulative, brainwashed, dishonest, etc you have to be to say the problems are with the established people. I fear at the end of the day the strong survive and whoever wins will rule the roost. It seems charity and decency has been a heav

If you can't split them by testing their confidence or alertness and one hasn't particularly chosen you and your gut isn't telling you I would let someone else choose one and just take the other one. When I drove 2000km to pick up my saluki x staghound and both were beautiful pups with good feet but extremely timid to the point where I could not tell anything about their personality (flecking nightmare) I just went with my gut. I still don't know if I made the right choice or not.... Good luck with it and I hope it all works out for you.

Stunning looking pups and sire and dam sounds like a good mix. I would love to have a few years out with one of those pups. Atb.

In Victoria (where Dandenong is) there does seem to be more hunters with terriers and lurchers, in nsw where I live and hunt it is mostly pig hunters. Introduce yourself on ozziedoggers and as long as the Aussies win the ashes you should be fine lol
-
There are hares here in plague proportions in some places, most hunters don't seem that interested in them. Pigs and foxes seem to be the main targets especially pigs for the people I hunt with. I personally love hare coursing more than anything else but I love any hunting with dogs. As said join ozziedoggers and put a post up I am sure you will get plenty of information. Where will you be playing cricket?
-
I have read both these books and I agree both are excellent. I got both from skycat publications and there are a few more I am interested in that were on the website which I will get around to ordering. Dutch salmon gazehounds and coursing is good and the best hunting stories ever told I enjoyed not sure of author but it was about teddy Roosevelt hunting with dogs and rifles. Atb.

Looks like a real nice litter, that is the kind of bragging I like to hear about!

R.I.P Tommy, sad he died but nice to hear his story, thanks for sharing.

I have a bull arab for pigs, a saluki x staghound and a grey x whip/stag. I technically own a 4 week old parson terrier which is still with its mother which I cannot wait to pick up. I like the rooster in your profile picture!

Should We Be Allowed To Smack Our Children ?
Silversnake replied to Blackbriar's topic in General Talk
I don't like smacking my kids but I have done, I agree to a degree you have lost control if you have to resort to smacks more I feel I have not been creative or clever enough to find a better way. I don't think the law needs changing as said if you don't leave marks you are not hurting them too bad which I think is strict enough -
I bet a banker invented that quote lol ?

Mix it up as much as possible, I don't cook/boil/heat anything at all.I do blend up raw veggies every other day and mix it into their chicken mince and a sardine or two. I also give carcasses, necks, liver, hearts varied every few days eg liver and carcass Monday, necks and hearts Tuesday, etc. Fatty bones almost every day. I never weigh anything, as been said by many if they start getting heavy/light I adjust the amount accordingly. I do not feed any dry food and I also believe it is a cause of cancer and coat, teeth, immunity problems over time. A young dog will not show signs for many years

Hitler probably was a lunatic but he definitely wasn't the only one and was even a long way off being the worst one

"As for it all being a Jewish conspiracy well you think they would of got more out of it than some barren middle eastern dust bowl" Insulting peoples intelligence does you no favours. I am constantly surprised at the lack of intelligence in people. Most people will agree / believe all that was gained was a barren middle eastern dust bowl and not question or want to know what happened before, during or after the war. I applaud those whose eyes are open and can see what is happening right in front of us. I have never been able to understand why so many seem to be so easily blinde

Hi ausnick, haven't heard from you in a while good to see you are still getting amongst them. That looks like a big strong pup with a block head! Good luck and happy hunting.
-
He is too big, too slow can't turn or stop, which is fine for pigs but faster and more evasive game like rabbits, hare and fox, which is still legal quarry here, he is not even close. Also with his mixed bloodlines pups could throw to anything, so I concluded that he is not suitable to breed for successful running dogs. Atb.

Few Of The Hounds Al Be Running This Coming Season
Silversnake replied to Inforthelongrun's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Good luck with them, thanks for sharing -
What would you call that breed a cockbed, lol
-
Good to hear he has found a good home I hope it all works out for all of you and the dogs.

There is alot of speculation and rumours about the bull arab but the common theory is that originally it was bull terrier, English pointer and greyhound.over time different lines (eg Brian neale, Anderson, Warrego, etc) have infused different breeds and they are all called bull arabs, so basically a bull arab is an aussie pig dog. I have an Anderson line bull arab that is a decent pig dog. I can definitely see English pointer in him and I would be surprised if there wasn't bully grey, but I suspect there is some bullmastiff or something like that in his lineage. He is about 28 tts and 40kg, ve
