  1. pick your rabbits make it easy for the dog and make sure the dog sees them before you slip and don't over do it try and end every outing on a catch.it takes experience for a dog to take rabbits of there seats let him see them moving for the first wile and eventually he will learn there is something at the end of the beam.

  5. Was out lamping with pup on saturday night just to get her a few runs then went ferreting on sunday at a differnt spot and bolted a few young rabbits so if i get the right weather for it ill have 1 more lamping trip with the pup and datill do me for this year.

I have or had a young lurcher who hatted the car every time I took her in it she was sick and the slobbers ran out of her mouth all over everything even if u took her near the car shed be pulling and going mad on the lead trying to get away from it but after a few nights out on the lamp and a few hunting trips she's fine jumps straight into the car she now sees the car as a chance to have abit of fun and go hunting .

  9. im thinking of getting a dog for bushing foxes and rabbits for the lurchers there mite be a change of me getting a cocker pup out of working lines for free But would i be better with a beagle or beagle cross or would the cocker do the job just as well and would it be better to have 2 bushing dogs rather than the 1. Got a 1/4 bull 3/4 greyhound for xmass when i was 13 pesterd my step dad for a lurcher after going out lamping with a mate of his 1 nite been hooked eversince.he a game dog took all quarry with him and got myself in a bitta troble to lol all good crack he geting old now and had a couple of accidents would love a pup out of him if the bitch pup makes the grade.

  13. had a lurcher pup like that changed from dry nuts to raw food 2 mouths ago and shes looking great bald patch nearly all cleared up don't think the nuts agreed with her meaby protein to high of something but all the other dogs were fine but there all on raw now and all looking far better for it and am saving money and all

  15. was writing up here a few weeks ago about my wee whippet dog that wouldn't chase well finally he is giving it ago. after he seen the old dog get a fox out walking he's starting to shape up chased a few rabbits out of cover there last week and chased after them but no catch but at least he's trying took him out for a quick lamp at the weekend slipped him at 2 rabbits but he lost them but not for lack of trying he gave both of them a good run he's just not sure what to do a bit more time with him and he might come good I hope. atb for the season. sammy

  17. Rright cheres lads for the advice think il hang on to him for a wile put more work in give him a chance try a few differnt things and take it from there. Just never had this problem before with a lurcher that wouldn chase had one got it at 14 months never seen anything entered no problem.anyway ill keep at him for a wile yet see if it pays of hopefully it dose.

  19. thanks for the feed back. iv had this dog for over 3 months and thought long and hard about getting a whippet or another lurcher obviously got a whippet. the man I got it of was a shooting man and thought he would have a go at lamping rabbits but then lost interested but the dog was walked with his springer every day. iv put a lot of time into the dog getting him to no me playing with him walking him getting him to chase me round the garden field with a rabbit skin and throwing a tennis ball with a skin round it he chases it and retrieves it back to had and chases the rabbit skin but just
  20. a bit of advice lads would be appreciated I recently got a 11 month old whippet nothing has been done with her before I got her I have never had a whippet just lurchers and thought it would be a bit of crack for rabbits out lamping mooching and ferreting. but when out walking her rabbits frequently get up in front of her and she pays no interest in them just watches them run away when out witch my lurchers they chase them and catch a few but she just stands and watches even when the rabbit runs right past her with old lurcher in hot pursuit she still just watches. took her out lamping and st

  23. Same here pleanty rabbits about nw then come october time myxi hits them drops the numbers down to about half.only good thing about it it'il give the 2 pups im bringing on a handy first catch while i lasts.
  24. yea my old dogs hit in to cattle and sheep feeders trailer's piles of logs gates then last month he ran across the road after a cat and got hit by a car I thought he was dead but he alright he was just sore for couple of days hardy animals dogs. .
