  1. I'll take the new nets ... How much? What's happened to the ferrets??
  2. James Welbeloved ferret food. The big big bags last forever....
  3. I wish my warrens were that open!
  4. Get a hob and Jill as kits; spend the summer with your boy handling them tubes etc; slowly saving up pocket money for nets/carry box/spade... I don't know where you live but I have a spare hutch in Herts for your boy that my girls rabbit was in before foxy got it....
  5. Could the water have flooded some of the tunnels drowning some/trapping others underground?
  6. Steve Backshall: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Backshall
  7. Buy some nets. Buy some ferrets. Make some mistakes. Learn as you go. The basics are very basic, the more skills you pick up from making mistakes...
  8. Takes some skill I'm struggling at simply tanning a pelt lol!
  9. I literally have never seen a warren with 200 holes in round me; the idea seems incomprehensible! I'm starting to realise in comparison to where other people ferret there isn't a real rabbit problem in hertfordshire!!
  10. I totally agree how he went about it was wrong and if it was a shared permission then that's a little different; I could just imagine how I'd see it if it was my permission and people I'd brought with me started yoinking neighbouring permissions without cutting me in... But if it's as you say sounds like you should simply just stop ferreting with him. If he needs you more than he needs you it'll impact him more. It's supposed to be a pleasant activity remember?!
  11. You were on his permission as a guest and off the back of his permission got some ferreting (albeit with some mole trapping) if I was him I'd be pissed. He invites you to help his permission (helping you out) and rather than saying 'I'm just helping out (name) but I reckon we could with (name) have a crack at moles for you; that way when the rabbiting was offered he wouldn't have felt like you were stealing the land he was aiming for and the farmer he was massaging. I think he could have handled it better than he did but tbh if I was him is be livid.
  12. I'm pretty convinced it was Tick Larvae and Ivermectin and a bedding change fixed them right up
  13. Considering up until a week ago all I had for over a decade was Bisley 4 oz purse nets; now I have a few more nets I still don't own a long net... And you know what? I haven't thought... I really really need one. I have thought 'I really need more purse nets' mind...
  14. Lol; It always used to be strip to buffalo or softie jacket top half... Oh how times have changed... Gone are the days of the colour boy cutting about everywhere in ronhills...
  15. Just Lol. Oh I miss this.... I really do. All jungle hats must have cut down brims and pulled right forward sewed down to look ally as fook. At least in my day.
  16. I didn't know no different.... I have to say I've seen the light....
  17. I had Bisley nets when I first got ferrets 15/16 years ago; and knew no different; I recently got back into ferreting and came onto this forum; I needed new nets and so I bought some Spun poly off of Andy Kelly. I didn't know any different and had been battling with Bisley nets for years. They work but are horrific to set up and detangle. My eyes are opened. Spun Poly in 3'6" in disco colours and one poke net for every 20 nets you own and you cannot go far wrong IMHO.
  18. You can get welded mesh that is really quite small about 1/2 cm squares that's what I use if I'm using any mesh
  19. My Jill does this; I swear she thinks it's a fun game.... I don't mind but it's irritating.... I reckon I'll just try and train it out of her with ferretone; as she creeps out with saliva on my finger
