  1. This ties in with ferrets coming into season early this year; natures got all confused with this mild weather
  2. Those of you that use Fipronil based products; do you still find that your ferrets have ticks/fleas crawling around after Ferreting? If you do, do you just leave them be relying on the fipronil to kill them off or do you take any additional action? Just a thought? I find myself trying to brush them out before I put them back in the hutch (before the ticks have got a bite on) even if they will die soon enough..
  3. Latest issue army entrenching tool is all I carry with me; in my past I've dug fire trenches with them as far as I'm concerned if I can do that I can dig out a ferret anywhere it can be dug out...
  4. When I was a kid I always wanted to tame a fox cub...
  5. Longers; where I am the rabbit population has never got back to it's pre-Myxy days, and regularly gets hit again; so I'm even more mindful to let it stay balanced...
  6. Maybe I'm unusual but I only take enough for the freezer/fridge 2-6 rabbits a time once or twice a week is quite enough to keep me going; chuck a few shot pigeons in there and my food bill with the veg garden and chickens is pretty much nil... Does anyone else "subsistence hunt"? When I get permissions; (of which I have a few) I usually explain that this is what I do; and whilst some farmers/owners explain they'd rather have a 'total war' on pest species, but a lot, nod, smile wryly and say "like a 'fairy tale' old poacher, but done legal?" And let me crack on...
  7. I clean out all the sh*t everyday; change all the sawdust everyweekend and change bedding everytime I frontline them (monthly)
  8. A woman I know who keeps/rescues ferrets as pets and keeps them Indoors has had one just come in season; and she says that's the earliest even for indoor pet ferrets...

  10. I work 1 Jill and 1 hob; the gill does the actual work; the hob just plods a long to stop them getting the run around; he's also so much more chilled than her (and more 'pet like') so worth considering that (I've got him castrated)
  11. Im after a .410 reloading kit too if anyone has one. Cash waiting.
  12. I love Hemel way and work Shifts; have a couple of farms and golf course I have permission on if you wanted to mix and match about. Got 1xhob 1xjill I use
  13. I use CCC they cover ferreting and shooting and are cheaper than BASC as they are just the insurance nothing more http://www.ccc3.org.uk/home
  14. I love in Herts. And ferret around the Hemel area if you need a hand
