OK, picked them up this afternoon - £7 for 45 carcasses, total weight 11.54kg. I've no idea if that's a good price or not as it's the only place I've ever bought them from. Anybody else buy carcass and if so how does that compare with what you pay?

Any pics? Was the poodle a standard or miniature? I've seen a few litters of miniature x whippet advertised over the last few years, but very unusual to come across standard x greyhound. Good luck with her, and I look forward to hearing how she turns out for you.

I've seen something similar - I was in the car one day badly in need of a leak, so I turned off the road into a quiet lane. Pulled over and unzipped by a hedge and got the fright of my life - the other side of the hedge was a large garden in which 2 standard poodles had suddenly materialised and were going ballistic at me. Nearly had a very unsavoury mess all down the front of my trousers Woe betide anybody who'd tried to break into that place...

New Hutch Am Building For The New Arrivals

OK, cheers. Ordered some today so will hopefully get it all done next week... -
Years ago I used to have one. Dam was 15/16ths greyhound, 1/16th collie, sire was standard poodle. Unfortunately he got killed on the road in pursuit of bambi age 21 months, so never reached his full potential, but was shaping up to be all that I could have wanted. Good ferreting dog, sensible around the nets, had taken daytime hares, had a couple of daytime roe under his belt, and had retrieved his first goose from the water (I used to take him wildfowling, though lurcher work was the number one priority). He had a good nose, good feet and coat. Very biddable and great temperament - soft as

How many coats did you give it gnipper? -
http://www.severnpoultry.info/ deliver to the southwest but I've no idea what their minimum order is. I get some from them every now and then but I live locally so just collect in person. Also, they don't do minced carcass but sell it whole. They charge £7 per case, which weighs about 10kg from memory. I haven't had any from them for a while but have just ordered a case for Monday so I'll weigh it then and let you know.

Looking good.... What sort of timber are you using for the sides? Will it be waterproof or are you going to apply some sort of sealant? I ask as I'm about to make a new accommodation block myself and was thinking of using osb coated with some sort of sealant.

Tiercel - is flow coat definitely what you mean? Have you done this successfully yourself? I ask because I'm just about to make a new hutch and remember reading this post a while back and planned to do the same - sterling board ('cos cheaper than marine ply) covered with flow coat. This afternoon I rang a supplier to get the flow coat and they said that it's supposed to be used on fibreglass and that although in theory you can apply it to timber, within a couple of months it will just start peeling off. So is it possible the stuff you're referring to isn't flow coat but something else? Or -

I'd have thought it would be easier and more productive to set purse nets and then backnet them. Or use a longnet. But like Tomo says the challenge would be doing it without spooking the rabbits.

Like has already been said, some dogs never get the hang of squatters. My first lurcher caught a very high percentage of everything he ran on the lamp, but he never ever twigged to picking up squatters. I had some where I'd walked so close we were virtually on top of them - if I'd stuck my leg out I could have nudged it with my foot. Held the beam on 'em the whole time and I'd be thinking "How the hell can he not see that?" but for whatever reason he just couldn't seem to see them. But the minute it moved he was away.

i have the plr400 from clulite. top lamp. no wires or external battery and cracking range. use this more than anything for a quick trip out. beam is quite narrow but great for bunnies.easy to shove in a pocket too as its real small I bought a plr 400 last year but returned it as I didn't really like it. Certainly very light, but I wanted something with a bit brighter beam. Also didn't find the position of the on/off switch all that easy to flick on and off.

Anyone Fished At Trevone, Cornwall?
krawnden replied to krawnden's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
Thanks dytkos - have sent him a pm. -
I shall be in Trevone (near Padstow) for a few days next week and plan to do some fishing. Though I've fished nearly all my life it's been almost exclusively fresh water fishing and I know next to nothing about sea fishing. I'm planning to spin from the rocks an hour or so either side of low tide. Does that sound like the best bet? Anybody know the area who can recommend spots/tactics? I'm hoping to pick up a bass or two... Cheers.

Have you used it yet Buster? If so, are you pleased with it? I bought a pistol grip Clulite last year but ended up returning it as I wasn't that impressed with it.

I use John Lewis Insurance. They offer 3 levels of cover, starting at about £12/month. I've opted for the middle level of cover at about £16/month which gives £7500 of veterinary cover a year. I put them down as "crossbreed". Insurance seems like a waste of money if you never make a claim, but if you have a serious injury or illness you'll sure as hell be glad you've got it. I for one simply couldn't produce 4 or 5 grand just like that if it was needed - I just don't have access to that kind of money. And a bad accident can easily end up costing that much. So for my own peace of mind I'd p

What diameter hole?

Teddy Moritz used to be right into jackrabbits, cotton tails etc with running dogs. Not sure if she still has them but if she doesn't I expect there's a good chance she'll be able to point you in the right direction. She used to be in Rockaway, N.J. (and might still be, but I'm afraid I don't know). You could probably track her down through http://www.teckelclub.org/fox-hunting.htm. atb in your search

I've always done the same, but never in the ears - would have thought they're too small to get the puller in and twist it round
