  1. Seen plenty of greyhounds on this track but never whippets. How often do the whippets get on there? It's not far from me - I'd quite like to get down there and watch sometime...
  2. Beautiful workmanship. You selling it? If so, for how much?
  3. Difficult to tell from the video wi11ow, but are they following little tracks and gaps through the stingers or do they just push right through them without bothering?
  4. threelander, I'm no expert on catties (far from it ) but there are some serious experts on the Catapult & Slingshot Hunting section on here. Get in there and ask away and you'll be up to your eyes in technical band mumbo-jumbo before you can say "Through the forks"
  5. Gotta hand it to you whippet boys, you've got some terrific action shots
  6. If feeding raw a good starting point for small dogs is to feed 3% of body weight per day. See how they go on that for a week or two then adjust if necessary according to the individual dog.
  7. Would love to see that as well, Truther. But I know how hard it can be filming action shots...
  8. Love that last pic green lurchers. Are the hounds yours?
  9. Not in the slightest. My best ever worker was a castrated hob. He's not the only one I've had and the rest have all been good workers too.
  10. Lovely stance on those two in first pic
  11. Sounds promising Joe. If he's keen, has a good nose and flushes from cover all the right elements are in place. It's just a case of getting experience now. D'you plan on doing anything else with him apart from bushing? Ferreting, ratting etc?
  12. That's bad news - you must be gutted, especially after all the hard work you put into them and your hopes of starting breeding a good hunting line.
  13. Thanks guys. Joe - it sounds is if yours has maybe come on a lot younger than wi11ow's first cross bitch did? If he's only 8 months now and working well already...
  14. Open the pic in Microsoft Paint (which comes as standard I think on all PCs these days). Click 'Resize', make sure the Percentage option is selected, then just put a figure into the box, ie 30% then click OK. If you need to rotate it as well just click 'Rotate' and turn it the way you want. Then 'save as' and give it a name - job's a good 'un.
  15. Thanks for the replies - all makes sense. wi11ow - d'you prefer the three quarter breds to the half cross? In what way do they differ?
  16. Joe, I can see the obvious differences between a half cross and a cocker. But from the photos and videos I've seen of three quarter spaniels they seem very much more like the spaniel. So I'm interested to know in what way they differ from a full spaniel. Also because my busher is three quarter terrier - and I'm very pleased with her - I'm also interested to hear comments from anybody with a three quarter terrier, quarter spaniel...
  17. There seem to be quite a few spaniel x terrier crosses about, with some cracking looking examples on here. I only remember seeing pictures of half crosses or three quarter spaniel quarter terrier. I've never seen any in the flesh and am interested to know more about them. What do you think a three quarter bred offers that a full cocker doesn't? Also, do any of you have three quarter terrier, quarter spaniel? If so, how do you rate them , and can you put up any pics?
  18. good man yourself.......... its great to be with your dogs outdoors mooching not everybody has the best dogs but its still nice to be out their Cheers fellas, the thing is a couple of times when i have been out with her i have seen young rabbits going into cover and when i try and send her to the spot she takes a sniff and just moves on as if nothing has been there. I don't know whats going on with her because i usually have more trouble getting her to stop. She has caught in cover in fact she caught her first when she was 8 or 9 months old she is 21 months now and she has caught
  19. In some situations yes, in others no
  20. I'm pretty sure that rabbits are like squirrels in as much as once you've caught one it's illegal to let it go again, wherever that might be
