Thanks mate he's nearly ready to take out now, another week or 2 and he'll be ready don't want to rush it with him being my first dogYeah easy does it to begin with only been in game couple years myself sounds like pup coming on well mate where you from? I've been shooting since I was 12 but this is my first time training and using a dog, I'm from stoke-on-Trent, yourself?

yeah well I can get free tripe and free bags of bones from a butcher I know

have an old jumper on all day (so it gets your smell on it) and put it in the kennel with him, that worked for my pup

I only got wagg because a bloke I know has always used it for his whippets and swears by it

do you think if I mixed tripe with a higher protein dry food it would balance out a bit better? If so what dry food?

No he doesn't panic he just looks at me like "shut the feck up" lol. I've sorted it now it was my error not the dogs , I was putting my hand out to try and encourage him, but soon as I kept my hands down he brought it all the way to me, something as simple as that, I think he was doing that thinking I had a treat so he was dropping the ball to get it because I was using treats before

I only give him 1 - 11/2 cups of dry food and about 200-300g of mince but money is going be abut tight for a while due to car and boiler braking down, what other cheeper meat could I use? I can get tripe for free, should I use that or not?

He ignores the dummy after I give him one treat budWell he doesn't get any treats then. When you doing this retrieve training? Is the dog in kennels or in the house?. I have an alley in my garden between my house and out houses I do it in that for less distractions

The refusal of the pup to come into your space with the dummy and dropping the ball short indicate that his mindset is changing when nearing contact with you , it's a zone the pup is uncomfortable with , it's going from drive to fear,a dog can only reference one feeling at a time, Dogs switch polarities to fit with us and other dogs it's how the pack works , every dog makes itself social to fit it's how Mother Nature evolved to accommodate large groups of predators in the wild , meaning they can't all act predator like or dominant some must act submissive or prey like, what's happening with

Yeah he dose bring it closer when I'm on my knees but not to hand I'm shur he will get it soon

Yeah I've had his from a pup it just confused me abut because he picked everything else up in a snap like house training and commands but I'll just keep at it. I have an ally in my garden between the house and out houses it's quite long do you think if I did it in their id have more success because he will have no distraction? Just an idea really

I do get down on my knees but I haven't tried that yetI will give it ago tomorrow, and I can't just leave him because of dropping a live one short and it getting away I really wanna nip this out now before taking him out
