  1. Pigs are on borrowed time now, they should be gone first week of Jan and will have a full freezer again......I can't wait!
  2. I'm not flash pal, don't know what you mean! Haha. Had to go new for company/tax reasons. Rather put my money in a nice truck than give it to HMRC. If I could have any truck back to last forever I would have my old isuzu trooper 3.1d. Absolute beast of a motor and was mechanically bullet proof. Unfortunately chasis snapped in 2 places!!! Loved that truck, everyone just moved out the way
  3. Had some issues with the old ranger previously and warranty was about to expire so chopped her in for the new 3.0v6. Read good things about this engine same as VW Amarok? Ppl love em or hate em and everyone has a mates mate who has a horror story but that's same with every car on the road. Personally I like a Ford and a heated front screen! Anyway, VAT back, corporate tax dodge AND a practical vehicle rolled into one so ticks all the boxes for what I need....time will tell If its decent.
  4. It's all numbers on a screen or spreadsheet. Same as 90% of banking nowadays. Cash is king and when it all collapses I would rather have 10k in cash at home than 50k in crypto or banking app. Ultimately at some point it is all guna collapse and only the man with skill will trade with another skill.........like the olden days. This is what I have been preparing for. Get ready.
  5. Ham and cheese toastie by the river with a cuppa
  6. Soon be time for the girls to go. 21wks now. As much as I like having em about I'm ready for a freezer full of joints and sausages!!! For scale that 'trough' is 300x100 trunking
  7. I live at doncaster and we have quite a big market still, and a large fish market, there have been carp on there for years now. I remember being shocked by it first time I saw it and must be 10yrs+ that. It's normal to so many societies in the world, just not us
  8. I'm not sure to be honest. The fish iteslf was actually really nice but it still doesn't feel right. I need to have a word with myself and see. I've been brought up fishing from being a kid and taught that all fish need to be handled with love and care unless they are trout or from saltwater, they go int pot......mad really isn't it. What's difference between a carp and owt else other than perception? But I also know I have 200-300 carp at 3-4lb at my finger tips so thats a ridiculous amount of food if I can get my head around it as part of the whole thing we are doing!
  9. Ive done a few posts on here over the years but this post is guna split the room more than any other...... I have a pond that I lease, about 2-2.5 acre. When I took it on I was told there was nothing in it so I put 300 little carp in, C1s, which means first summer, so they were basically 2-3inches long. It turned out that there was some originals in the pond....which if I had known I wouldn't have stocked anything to start! Couple yrs on and the 2-3inch carp are now 3-4lb but getting lean as it is over stocked. I've made the descision to 'get rid' of some. Gifting to frien
  10. Thats what stopped me with sheep last time, I was warned they are suicidal manic depressive! I registered for goats but been told they can be hard work to keep in!
  11. I have a field I'm considering putting some lambs on but will need to spend some on fencing so I need to do the math on how many I would need to cover costs etc.
  12. Last time I traded half a pig for a full lamb, I wouldn't do it again. A lot more meat in half a pig. I'm considering getting a couple lambs myself to fatten up.
  13. My workings from last time You feed 1lb a day for every month of age up to 6m/6lb. Got the pigs at 2m so roughly.... 3rd month 3lb day = 90lb 4th month 4lb day = 120lb 5th month 5lb day =150lb 6th month 6lb day = 180lb So 540lb feed. Pig nuts in 25kg sacks roughly 55lb so say 10 sacks feed. I pay £12.50 a sack so £125 feed per pig to get at 2m and cull at the end of the 6th month. I had 2 pigs: £100 for the weaners £250 in feed £186.50 slaughter and butcher (that included £70 for sausages) Total £536.50 I didn't actually sp
  14. The meat is next level compared to anything from shop or butchers
